Now for the real advice. Just changed a drain with a similar (but metal) nut. Hammer and chisel was the remedy. Chisel through it until it splits then you can peal it off. Then replace it.

I'm assuming you mean one of these or similar...

Great suggestions. Turned out, I just needed more beer. Which made me madder. Which caused me to swing a five pound pipe wrench on the old faucet with great fury, not caring if I damages the sink.

This, it seems, will loosen and/or break the plastic lock washers. Although an extended backswing did take out one wine glass.

Installed and working. :banger:

Yep. Putting a cheater bar over anything (after a liberal dousing of Kroil, of course) can really put the torque to something. No toolbox is complete without one, and I even keep one under the seat of my truck for, well, other things.

I was going to tell you to go with the Wild Turkey and C4 option. It has always worked for me, although on occasion I have had to "upgrade" to Crown Royal to get the nut loose....:biggrin:

I'm so sore I can barely lift my arms above my head. [strike]Man[/strike] Old men were not meant to lie on their backs half in and half out of the cabinet, trying to fish a basin wrench thru the assorted lines going to disposals, ice makers and dish washers, only to find the three inches of room to vainly try to unscrew a damn frozen washer that likely got put on when Jimmy Carter was President...

This actual working for a living s*** is for the birds. I'm going back to reading things and writing snarky reply briefs :pissed:

Woke up this morning to a leak under our kitchen sink. She had the garbage disposal working overtime yesterday and it seems as those we busted a seal somewhere. The leak is pretty pronounced but slightly delayed...there is about a 1-2 second pause in between when the water is turned on and when the water starts pouring down the side of the Insinkerator. Any thoughts are welcome, otherwise I am going to just call my guy and have him come take a look at it...unfortunately I don't have a lot of experience with drains/garbage disposals.

Turn it on, then reach your hand inside thru the disposal. You may feel a slight pinch. Then immediately look under the sink. The blood will help you see where the leak is coming from.
