In his presser Day kept saying “you HAVE to run the ball in this game” like it’s some sort of playground tough guy requirement. You do what works. They didn’t.As for Kelly/Day, surely Day would have approved an offensive game plan before the game and would have been responsible for shifting away from running into the teeth of TCUN's line. Two things that even I saw:
(a) TCUN could not handle uptempo offense. They had to have seen that in the last drive of the second half, yet they really did not change to it again.
(b) If you are going to run into that line, for goodness sakes then put both running backs in like you did against Indiana. Howard was running for his life much of the game and the blocking would have helped as well. I realize they did that a few times but it should have been an early adjustment before the half.
