HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

As for Kelly/Day, surely Day would have approved an offensive game plan before the game and would have been responsible for shifting away from running into the teeth of TCUN's line. Two things that even I saw:

(a) TCUN could not handle uptempo offense. They had to have seen that in the last drive of the second half, yet they really did not change to it again.

(b) If you are going to run into that line, for goodness sakes then put both running backs in like you did against Indiana. Howard was running for his life much of the game and the blocking would have helped as well. I realize they did that a few times but it should have been an early adjustment before the half.
In his presser Day kept saying “you HAVE to run the ball in this game” like it’s some sort of playground tough guy requirement. You do what works. They didn’t.

This is the kind of loss that could potentially send the program to 99-2001 mediocrity if they don’t make a smart decision but Day is clearly not the guy unless you are ok with losing to scUM every year “because he made the playoff still” this guy isn’t winning 4 games against better teams to win it all.

For everyone that wants day fired , who do you legit want to replace him??? His offenses whether you like them or not have always been high scoring groups. He always has immense recruiting classes. Who is going to replace him and be better? I’m really curious because I can’t name on person that we could ACTUALY get that would be worth that mess that comes with it.

Fickell’s issue was never his coaching talent, just his inexperience. After leading Wisconsin, he definitely has the experience, the pedigree, and the playing experience.
Don't get me wrong, I love Fick. But have you seen Wisconsin? They aren't even going to be bowl eligible this year and just lost their big rivalry game to Minnesota yesterday. Granted OSU has more resources than Cheese but his tenure there has been somewhat disappointing.

It’s a new era of college football 30 years ago it would be crazy to fire a coach who wins 9-10 games a year but now it’s not it’s beat your rivals and win titles or bust.
Disagree about the rivalry point. The new era seems to emphasize winning all games equally and making the playoffs. College football has now become NFL light. Rivalry still means something but seasons aren’t going to be failures if you don’t beat your rivals. It absolutely sucks but the college game that we once knew and loved, is no longer there.

10 wins may be wishful thinking if Day gets fired. This team will absolutely get poached in the transfer portal and I’d be willing to bet that more than half the current recruits don’t sign. As a fan base I think we may have to adjust the importance of the SCum game, unfortunately. The new playoff era, free agency (NIL) and the fact that college football has absolutely become more corporate than ever, IMO will mean that less emphasis will be placed on “The game” and more emphasis on the entirety of the season. College football will by default basically be the NFL. College football as we know it, is dead.
Removing the emotion of the moment, this is probably the best assessment of what happens and what is happening, in reality.

The college football world is just different now.
