HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

I don’t think it is, we’ve seen that safe shell BS from Day many a time. That reeks of him influencing things
That’s finding an excuse to answer something that isn’t even most likely true. You might want it to be to explain what happened but chip Kelly called every play unless someone says otherwise. Until then that was chip Kelly ripping middle runs right after we smoked them before the half with a two minute aerial drill. Shocking start to second half.

Get a grip. Charlie Brown and Lucy could win ten games at Ohio State.
Get a grip? I'm not sure what prompted that response.

I'm not really interested in winning 10 games. I'm a lot more interested in winning national championships. Ryan Day has kept Ohio State in the national championship picture from 2019 to 2024, and the Buckeyes could still easily win the NC this season (primarily due to the competition being less than stellar). I don't know who Ohio State could hire that would get this team over to actually win NCs as opposed to merely being in the hunt. If you have any suggestions, please post them.

As for Kelly/Day, surely Day would have approved an offensive game plan before the game and would have been responsible for shifting away from running into the teeth of TCUN's line. Two things that even I saw:

(a) TCUN could not handle uptempo offense. They had to have seen that in the last drive of the second half, yet they really did not change to it again.

(b) If you are going to run into that line, for goodness sakes then put both running backs in like you did against Indiana. Howard was running for his life much of the game and the blocking would have helped as well. I realize they did that a few times but it should have been an early adjustment before the half.

Day did not miss two field goals. He did not take out half of his offensive line. He did not throw two interceptions.

He and his offensive coordinator, however, are responsible for perhaps the most inexcusable offensive game plan in many years. He did not place his offensive players in a position where they could succeed. I don't remember so many boos ever echoing around Ohio Stadium as fans watched this high-powered offense stumble its way through the game with such poor play calling.

I have not been on the "Fire Day" train. Instead, I believed that Ryan Day did not yet have the temperament to coach at Ohio State. It is clear that he has done his best this year and pushed himself to the brink, but it is time to admit that he is not the guy for this job. And it is time to admit that he just does not have the emotional resources to handle this responsibility.

Ohio State should not repeat the mistake of not firing John Cooper. It is time for a new head coach at Ohio State, even if that has an effect on the transfer window. It is enough even if it means a few down years. This is simply unacceptable.
Perfectly sums up my feelings on Day. Great guy, excellent person who has represented the University well. But something is missing that makes him not the right person to lead this team. I've given him the benefit of the doubt all along, but after that embarrassing performance today I believe it's time to cut him loose and start fresh.

I’d also point out they refused to play us in 2020 which would have been a win. Three years of cheating wins. And then this legit win. So in the last umpteen years they have one victory. I’m not firing a coach over that. Ever. Never.
I am not sure why it would have been a win. Day has not shown me that he would have done any better in that game.

This is the greatest issue. I don’t know that there is a better alternative with any kind of high probability of being so. The fan base will require both.

True but mediocre still means 10 wins here. As long as one of those is that piece of shit school of mouth breathing cheats, it's worth it.
10 wins may be wishful thinking if Day gets fired. This team will absolutely get poached in the transfer portal and I’d be willing to bet that more than half the current recruits don’t sign. As a fan base I think we may have to adjust the importance of the SCum game, unfortunately. The new playoff era, free agency (NIL) and the fact that college football has absolutely become more corporate than ever, IMO will mean that less emphasis will be placed on “The game” and more emphasis on the entirety of the season. College football will by default basically be the NFL. College football as we know it, is dead.
