HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

Frankly, I don’t give a fuck what he says in post game (or any other) press conferences. He has no obligation to be candid with the public and I don’t think he is.

Actions speak louder than words. He cleaned house where he needed to in ‘21 and got results. He needs to do that again now. If he doesn’t, my opinion will change drastically.
Also needs to make it clear to LJ that Knowles is his fucking boss, and Knowles runs the entire defense including the DL. If LJ can't handle that..well...thank you for your service.

Pretty much this...2024 is the first year with a new AD. Make or Break might be 2025 but we'll see.

People don't think things through when they want to automatically fire people, and especially some nebulous nonsense like fan expectations just aren't relevant to the discussion. There has to be a plan.

If nothing else, if going 11-2 yearly is seen a failure by "fans", maybe they'll jump off the bandwagon
And the institutional culture going all the way back to Earle is that--despite those cunts up north's constant attempts to paint us as the football factory--the university really has zero fucks to give about what the fanbase wants. They didn't when they called for Earle's head when the 9-3 seasons started piling up. They didn't when Cooper's losses to tcun piled up. They didn't when they ran Tressel for cheating and lying, and they didn't when they suspended Urban almost certainly knowing that would cause him to leave.

It also helps that the 2004 team got better, including an upset victory over scUM AND blowing out Okie State, as the season progressed. The teams we have been watching the last couple seasons are either stagnant, or on the decline as the grind of the season reaches its end.

That really only applies to this season, and it certainly does apply. 21: tcun cheated, and we turned around and won the Rose Bowl. 22: tcun cheated and we turned around and were a missed field goal away from knocking off UGA and an almost certain NC.

Even if you grant tcun 21 as the year that Simple Jim finally finds his baseball: at home against Coombs' defense. There's no fucking way that tcun come out in Ohio Stadium and shut down CJ Stroud without Stalions on the sideline.

Hmmm... LJ title is Asst Head Coach... so technically Knowles is not his fucking boss... which is precisely why their disagreement on 4-3 vs '3-4' festers

and you are acting like those would have been automatic wins if they didn't cheat.

Look at Day's record in big games/against opponents with a pulse. What gives you this absolute certainty this big game choke artist would somehow not be his usual choking self? Just because tsun was cheating doesn't mean they didn't have a pulse.

Agreed. Also, he might get a pass for 2021. They were cheating then but we didn't know it yet. It very much seems like Ohio State knew that they were cheating in 2022. They even informed TCU of this. The excuse is that during the season you only have a week to change up your signals.

I say horseshit to that. Your job as HC of Ohio State is 1. Beat tcun. 2. win the Big Ten. 3. Compete for a natty. That's the fucking job.

Here's the 2022 Ohio State schedule for the month of November:

Northwestern: 21-7 W
Indiana: 56-14 W
Maryland: 43-30 W

If you're the coach at Ohio State and you know those fuckers are cheating, you start preparing October 29th after the Penn State game and treat the next three games as exhibitions. Maybe you lose to Maryland in the scenerio, but you win the other two with basically the Penn State gameplan, signals and your Heisman candidate QB. You know what happens if you spend a month changing up your signals but you drop one to Maryland. You have a pretty good chance of beating tCun, winning the Big Ten, and you still make the playoffs (see job goals above.)

If you’re pretty sure they’ve been stealing signals from the sideline, I don’t understand why you can’t fix this in 1 week. Using wristbands that identify the plays/formations by number and signaling in numbers from the sideline, and changing who is sending the live signal each drive, and swapping out the entire wristbands at halftim, if not more often.

Or on offense, signal the formation, then wait until the team is in position to signal the play, but snap the ball right away so the opponent doesn’t have time to see the signal, interpret it, send in the pre-determined defense for that call and get the defense lined up.

It’s not rocket science, there are several ways to prevent getting burned by the sign stealing,

Random thought, but could Vrabel be the AD?
I thought the last I read was that the search committee wanted to have a viable list of of candidates to hand off to incoming President Ted Carter. ( who assumes the position tomorrow) The names I hear the most as a favorite are Pat Chun at Washington State and Mike Jarmond at UCLA. Both have strong ties to OSU having both spent considerable time working in the OSU Athletic Dept. during their careers, with Chun being an OSU graduate.
