next year forward he can get pantsed by scUM and even lose another game as well along the way and still hobble into the 12 team playoff. Where do you draw the line? Or is being a team that stumbles into a 12 team playoff and makes a quick exit every year acceptable? Day is quickly turning the program into one that can only win games that he has a pretty decisive talent advantage.

Ok, then, I'm not satisfied with 1-3 and a program that seems without a rudder the longer time goes on. I'm willing to watch what happens this off season... but if the plan is try and keep Urban's program chugging along without Urban driving the bus? (No, this isn't a call for Urban to return, it's a commentary that as much as I hate the cocksucker, there's at this point some very undeniable truth to the 3rd base comment even if they guy who said it is a cheat)

This game was exhibit A of Ryan just blindly doing what he wants to do at all times and not even considering what the defense is doing or how to exploit them.

They came out loading the box and Day came out calling plays like they had six in the box and he needed to run to open the pass.

They knew Ryan would coach scared and they knew he would stubbornly do what he wanted rather than trying to open things up early and he played directly into their hands.

You could put 11 guys in the box on the first drive and Ryan Day will run because he thinks you have to do that immediately in order to set up the pass and no alignment will ever convince him otherwise.

The man coaches in a vacuum. It’s unreal.

It's really unfortunate timing that Gene is retiring now. Because Day's job should be in question, right now. He shouldn't be getting a free pass into 2024 simply because of an AD change but it appears that is the case.

I say this because OSU should absolutely be reaching out to Mike Vrabel right now and gauging his interest. But it's not going to happen now and it feels like a potentially missed opportunity.

Too many quotes in here to agree or disagree with. I think the "this feels like his biggest failure" one is the most profound and salient. Yes, Day is a coach that the players like. That shows in almost all players actually playing in this game.

However, did they really play in the game? The results don't show it. That was one of the worst performances I've seen from an Ohio State football team, and that's not hyperbole considering how good this team is. I've been the biggest supporter here but I can't do it anymore. We need a different direction. @brodybuck21 listed all the stats we needed on the record against ttun and in bowl games. No ill will against the guy at all, but that isn't meeting the standard here.

He'll get another year and I hope it magically turns around, but I highly doubt it happens and it might set our program back aways with one more year of that...

There is no magic bullet QB in the portal. Does anybody really think the K-State kid is a significant upgrade on McCord? They need to be in the portal for OL help, and not just warm bodies, because that unit sucks and Joe fucking Montana isn't winning behind those guys.
