HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

Can't underestimate that last part. Bjork has proven nothing, and his handling of the Jimbo extension and firing was a catastrophic disaster that should have immediately disqualified him from consideration for the Ohio State job. Supposedly, he was handpicked by Carter, and I'm far from sold on Carter so far. If we had Andy Geiger or GS in the Captain Kirk chair making the call on a replacement, I'd feel comfortable. I have no confidence in Bjork getting it right.

Urban ain't coming back, and besides, the powers that be made it abundantly clear already that he'd worn out his welcome. Vrabel has flat out stated that he doesn't want to coach college and won't recruit. Cignetti seems promising, but college football is littered with examples of up and coming coaches who fell on their faces when given the keys to a blueblood. Actually, Lanning is the only home run hire out there, and he's not leaving Uncle Phil's money.

Nick Saban really messed up a lot of CFB fan's heads.
Yes but there is no denying that the Buckeyes have underachieved in the past decade given how much talent we've had just one Championship feels a little bare. Granted we're in an amazing position as a program thankfully, but the taste is bittersweet at times when you think about how many times we've lost the chance to win it all. Michigan State fucked us 2 times in three years out of a Championship, then you've got the Clemson and Georgia semi final games where we were blue balled, and to top it all off the inexplicable losses suffered at the hands of Iowa and Purdue.

Ehh...the 2013 was broken on defense thanks to Withers. Jameis would have thrown for about 700 yards in a potential matchup.

But 2015, yes, absolutely.

I’m just throwing out names since people are so quick to want the flavor of the month.
The problem is these guys (whoever people name, at least it isn’t Bellichik and Cowher and Gruden anymore) are generally the more with less guys…the guys who can win at Iowa State and Purdue and Mississippi State and places like that…and most of those guys can’t translate that to A-level resources. They just can’t. For every one that does, at least 25 flame out. I know everyone thinks we’re going to get the Urban thing again, but he was at Florida, not BGSU or Utah, when we got him. He had already climbed the ladder. Taking a guy from a lower level place and plugging them in to Ohio State is just asking for Gerry Faust 2.0 ( yes, extreme example)

Probably would've lost against Florida State for sure but that team was stacked talent wise, Mich St not so much, although it was a very competent team coached by a good football coach. But you're 100 % right that defense was broken. So broken in fact that they managed to successfully exploit it in that CCG.

2012 we probably would have lost it in the National Championship game as well even if we weren't bowl banned.

Cignetti is 5-0 and looks sharp but so far that's been a really weak SOS he's faced. Yes, he's kicked their asses, which is promising, but you might want to see how he does the next 5 games before putting him in a top 3 list to replace a coach who loses 2 games a year max.
I really didn't have a top three list. Saban and Vrable were not possibilities for reasons stated. I was just throwing Cignetti out there if there was going to be a coaching search if Day loses to Michigan for a third year in a row. If Day beats Michigan this year then all of this is moot because there won't be a coaching change.

I'm not to sure about 2012. I don't think NoD was going to stop Braxton.
