Think he will do well. With Day having a very young family, if he is very successful here, maybe he stays for quite a while and keeps the kids in the same school etc? Wishful thinking maybe?

Day's current compensation is $4.5MM and will surely be renegotiated by tOSU if he is successful enough to draw interest from the NFL. The interest would have to be related to achieving success at the pinnacle of the sport, getting away from recruiting, etc. I would think that being a head coach at a destination school would hold the advantage that you needn't rely on the competence of the GM like in the NFL.

I’m more confident on Day’s success going into year 1 than I was with Tress.

Leaving for the NFL will be used against him in recruiting as long as he is at OSU and having success.
Every year or two they will have to announce an extension.
Day is going to be able to make some crazy money if he's good.
