HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

Last time in checked I thought I was a member of a OSU fan site called BuckeyePlanet.

I don't remember having to proof up bonafides on all of my opinions.

Do I need to have super-secret access to the comms on the sideline to come to the conclusion that Hartline is a OC in name only ?

Fair enough ?
Nice tactical retreat....sounds fair to me.

I think a HUGE portion of the blame needs to go to Gene Smith..we complain about Day hiring unqualified coaches...

Gene hired a guy with no HC experience to coach a top 5 program without running a national search..it may still work out, but looking iffy

Smith needed to be the adult in the room everytime Day chose to hire or retain an unqualified, QC coach. I understand that Bailey, Fleming, Hartline and Dennis may grow into great coaches...Hartline sort of has already at least as a WR coach.

Maybe the biggest thing is when Wilson left for Tulsa, Day brought in a completely inexperienced Bailey, who everyone loves, but.., to replace Wilson, a guy widely recognized as having one of the better offensive minds in the game

AND all Gene could do was say great job Ryan, here's your raise..sound familiar..cough, cough i.e. Fleming..though compared to Fleming, Day is a Rock Star
Thing is, I seem to recall something about Day being the "Heir Apparent" to Urban when he was hired.

Ramzy ain’t wrong. Day needs to get his shit together and stop being Mr. Nice Guy.
I worry more about the quiet, nice guys than the loud mouths. Tressel was quiet and always talked up his opponents. His W-L record did not reflect the milquetoast that his sweater vest conveyed.

That said, he does need to work on the offensive side coaching staff, give up the OC responsibility, and become a true head coach. Enough has been said about ST. And I am cautiously optimistic he is making these changes and will announce it when everything is in place.

I’d rather have deep self-reflection, a little vulnerability and strategic action. That would go a lot further than trying fit an image of what fans want.
I agree, but also...fans want winning over Michigan! (and in the playoff). He could be a Broni or throw fire hydrants at otters and virtually no one will care if he starts winning those games

Go look at box scores of all the other teams that had to use their backup qbs. Most of them ( not FSU) put up plenty of points.
But none of those other teams were playing a pissed off Georgia. Still, your point is valid. The Bucks weren't ready. To have a red shirt freshman who can't call signals and to switch your center and left tackle after the season... wow.
