Football Scoop is pretty reliable especially when it comes to coaching moves. They are followed by a lot od coaches, analysts, etc....

Barton has relationships with The Foundation NIL collective so he has some early information at times based on that, but also just throws things against the wall and is wrong 95% of the time. But when he is correct, the scoop weirdos go into every platform to yell about it at clouds.

The reason I mention it is that as I’m trying to gather every bit of information I can on coaching moves, the Scoop cult is yelling about how Barton had the Will Howard news three weeks ago (probably because The Foundation was working on a preliminary NIL package as the conversations began, also why they had Quinn Ewers info early) and it is highly annoying.

So yes, since NIL packages aren’t for coaches and The Scoop team is literally banned from Ohio State property, they would know absolutely nothing about any coaching moves currently.

The information Football Scoop reported lines up with everything everyone else on the beat has been reporting (which I’ve been trying to keep up with here: https://buckeyeplanet.com/forum/thr...u-coaching-changes.677777/page-7#post-3715930) so it seems that most of it is likely true, although things can change.

Day made the right call getting Howard for a year while Noland and others get ready. I like it. Hoping the OL improves but mobility at the QB position is back. Keeps plays alive.

Nice to see some coming back for another year. Says something about Day.

Washington, Oregon, USC, and UCLA arrive to the conference. It gets tougher.. recruiting and winning.

Good to have 12 playoff slots. Just in time.

Come on coach. You can do it.

I have this much faith in Ryan Day. He was handed a powerhouse, and what has he done with it? Beats the teams he should beat, that most of us could beat with his talent advantage. When has he ever outcoached anyone? I'm still waiting to see it.

He is a good coach, still breaking in his wings as a HC. Does OSU have years of patience to wait for the finished product?.... NO

He does seem willing to change things up, but only after things hit close to rock bottom.

Tress and Meyer didn't jump to HC, and made all their mistakes in lower level programs.

I believe he can be a great coach, but in 2024 he must beat TCUN. Must.... sneaking into the playoffs won't do it.

Interested in what changes are coming.

He must beat TCUN, wing the B1G title, and make it to the Natty or come damn near it. Consider all of the following...TCUN loses about half their roster and maybe Hairball, we got pretty much every player of significance back, killed it with the '24 recruiting class, have done really well so far in the portal at areas of need (OL is still TBD admittedly), we have a relatively light schedule, and TCUN has to play us at home.

If Day can't win under those circumstances, I hope his bags are already packed because he is gone. Two years ago losing at home with that team was inexcusable, it would probably be worse this upcoming year.

At Oregon and at Penn state are going to be trouble next year. Penn state is going to have a crazy good defense, they were almost all sophomores this year. Dan Lanning is building something damn good at Oregon.

Here's a "vote of confidence" for Day that actually counts:

YES SIR, PRESIDENT SLAPSHOT. On Jan. 1, Walter “Ted” Carter Jr. took office as Ohio State’s 17th president.

On Monday, Carter discussed several Ohio State-related topics in a press conference with reporters, one of which was about Ryan Day. After three consecutive losses to Michigan in The Game, a reporter asked Carter to share his opinion on the Buckeyes’ head football coach. Carter used the platform to offer a vote of confidence in Day.

“I have a great respect for the biggest rivalries that exist in the country. As somebody who ran the Naval Academy, the Army-Navy game is as big a rivalry – only second to the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry,” Carter explained. “I think Ryan Day would also say that our goals are to win the Big Ten and win the national championship every year. We didn’t meet that. But Ryan Day runs a fantastic program. He’s our coach. I’m proud that he’s our coach. He will continue to be our coach.”



ATTN: Ryan Day Detractors, President Slapshot has spoken. Day is Ohio State’s coach now and in the future, and there will be no change of leadership in the football program (for now). There will be a change in leadership in Ohio State’s athletic director position this summer, however.

With Gene Smith set to retire on June 30, Carter will help assist a search committee – which includes college football’s only two-time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin, Ohio State hoops legend Clark “Special K” Kellogg and 11 others – in naming Smith’s replacement. In the press conference, Carter said that the search is “well underway.” A source told Eleven Warriors that Ohio State has identified a handful of finalists that will be interviewed in January.

Count me as impressed at how Day has gone about the off-season so far. The recruiting class for '24 is great and will bring some immediate impact in my opinion. He has brought in a QB and a RB that will push the offense forward, especially with the run game. You can tell Howard will be an improvement over McCord just by watching his film. Imo he looks better throwing the ball, and has great size and good mobility. I'm excited for him to come in and lead the offense. The potential to have Trey back with the addition of an all SEC RB has me excited. And a number of returning starters will be back. If he can get another olineman in the portal and a great OC hire this will be a good off-season for Day.

Next year's defense could be better than this year, with continued time in the system and development of players on the roster. The offense can't be much worse, and I'm expecting a good improvement on that side of the ball. A change in philosophy will be much needed this season, with more rpo for Howard. This could be the best overall buckeye team since 2019 if everything falls together. Call me optimistic at this point in time.
