HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

Tress sucked against the top teams for the most part and that is why I was very critical of him...except he was 9-1 in The Game and beat Miami for a NC. He also won a Rose Bowl vs a favored Oregon team and a Sugar Bowl against a favored SEC team

Day on the other hand....is a really nice guy

So yeah, if I squint real hard I can almost see the point.

A couple years from now it’ll clear up I imagine.

And to be clear - I’m saying I’m just as likely to look like a blind idiot as anyone. Day has faced much harder of a gauntlet to start than Tress did (other than that Miami team).

I just see Day as a few plays away from having a whole different legacy thus far. And am willing to give him another year before deciding he’s not it.

Day also inherited a much better program than Tressel did.

Tressel had to rebuild. Day just had to maintain. For the most part he has, but big game success has largely eluded him. That matters.

"Other than that, how did you enjoy the play Mrs. Lincoln?"

He is what he is man. Skills can be taught, behavior doesn't change that quick with adults.

The first loss is the best. Admit to what it is and fix it now. Don't let it wrack up debts for another 2-3 years before you act on what what you already know.

This is a "how to run any company 101" equation for anyone who isn't an empty suit who's already announced retirement.

I was going to be done with this for now because most everything has been covered. But was not the lion’s share of that 2002 team Cooper recruits? There was MoC obviously but I remember (maybe incorrectly) a lot of juniors and seniors on that team.

They were...but Tress did something with them.

He WON.

Anyone who wants to defend this codsack Day lacks that from their logical arsenal..

He's won dick. The guys people keep trying to comp him to...have won.

Let it go. Day isn't the guy.

I used to think like this but after today I just don’t see any wow factor with Day. The recruiting is more Hartline and LJ Sr than Day. I’m starting to like the idea of letting Day ride off to College Station and retain Hartline and LJ Sr and Walton. Let the rest go.
The same LJ Sr that people were trashing for his ability to land and develop big fish recruits?

Coop went 14-10 his last two years at Ohio State. Let's not act like he left a massive pile of talent behind.

Tressel went 7-5 his first year with those Coop players then went 25-2 the next two years. That was Tressel, not Coop.
