HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

He's shown it 3 times. He also looked unprepared 3 times. I'll give him a wash in 2020 Bama. Cause his QB was lucky to walk and Sermon got hurt like the 2nd play and we were missing Miyan who had shown something a few weeks prior. While facing an all time great O and given a week to prepare.

2019 Clemson I don't know what to do with. It could go in prepared like this game but the team dropped a few key plays and the refs went all SEC

Agreed and only adding on here. Not only was the '20 Bama team insanely stacked and maybe the best CFB team I have ever seen other than maybe LSU under Burrow in their title year, Bama had a full year to play and we had 5 or 6 games because of the B1G? To me, that is not a benefit at all. Plus we had so many key players ruled out on COVID for that game and Bama magically had everyone available...I give Day a ton of credit for getting there and just doing the best we could once we got there.

2019 Clemson I wouldn't say Day was unprepared, but we did fail there. The refs absolutely boned us in critical moments and as you said went SEC on us. But we also had clear opportunities to win the game despite all that and regardless of my anger at the officials, we lost it. I would probably put that game right there with Georgia in terms of the close result, officiating and still being able to win it but not getting it done.

The glaring issue is the last two results against ttun. Day restored my faith in him a great deal on Saturday with the way he coached and how the team played, but we cannot lose like that to ttun moving forward. We can't lose to them next year. Day knows that and I think it was part of the enthusiasm against Georgia in trying to get some redemption heading into next year. Fair or not, that is the reality at Ohio State. I have faith in Day to win that game next year but let's say he beat ttun this year and dropped a 1 point game to Georgia...almost nobody would be calling for his job. Ttun is our super bowl and you have to have a healthy winning average against the skunk weasels to keep your job here. I've said it a thousand times and I will say it again, love Coach Day and I hope he is able to win The Game, the B1G championship and a title next year. We just have a damn long time until 2023 kickoff.

I do have to say though. What this game showed us is despite his mostly Stoic demeanor on the sidelines. His fire and will to win burns hot. He may not live and die with every play like Meyer but it's in there burning.

Guess I'm a bit more of a Day-apologist than most of you.

To me, I'm burned about:
1. Coombs hire. Not saying that I knew it was going to be a disaster, but *it was a disaster*. The most important job Day has is to hire staff and he blew it.
2. 2022 ttun game. Just a royal fuck-job on both sides of the ball.

Clemson games and Georgia were good games against top competition. You're going to lose some of these (unless you're Alabama and maybe now Georgia). It's tough because we could have won all three.

2021 ttun was a Coombs special. We had no chance in that one. Rose Bowl should also have been a Coombs special, but the offense somehow saved the day/Day.

I’m not trying to pick and if you know my posts, I’m a big Day supporter.

Don’t lose sight of tonight’s Championship game. Kirby Smart, up 45 points, went for it on 4th and 7 giving next years QB quality experience.

They happily finished drive with a TD to go up 52 points.

Ryan Day would’ve run the ball 3 times and happily punted it away.

Stop being nice. Develop back ups. Create a mean ass mentality that puts it on your opposition to stop you.

The best college coaches in the game do this…..I’m not sure why the Big 10 is so cordial…..it’s a conference thing. SEC coaches don’t salt games away to be nice. You need it to develop. The Big 10 is notorious for running clock out and getting to final whistle ASAP.

It’s time to get nasty.

And hire a competent DC

Im not with u here to be honest….I get your frustration.

I’d just say, Knowles has acknowledged the strategy was to keep changing the picture for Bennett.

What a 3rd Quarter the Bucks had defensively….it was night and day from the 1st half.

Tough for me to shit on Knowles when he was trying to make the game as hard as possible for Bennett. Hard when Ransom trips over his own feet.

We should’ve beat this UGA team….think it’s worth something after watching how UGA handled TCU.

Also shows, when OSU is playing at top end, what we’d do to Michigan.

Meh. Fuck all that. I want to be pissed and I want a scapegoat.

Knowles will do nicely.

Yes, that was largely a point I made in regard to our injury situation. Be aggressive, put teams away, get the back ups in and then stay aggressive. These reps aren't worthless when up 52-7 or 65-7. All I have to say is it'd sure be nice if Kyle or Devin had another 100 throws under his belt. That should be the case but it's not because we were busy running 3 dive plays to run out the clock.

Knowles are good this year. Not great but good...

I think this season will all build to a much better 2023.
Yeah. And I’m going to grow a 10 inch cock and bang Alba. This is the year. I can feel it.

Edit

In case people can’t tell. I’m pretty well liquored up and pissed off. There will be no logic and I really don’t want to argue. I just want to punch my sports life in its fat, stupid fucking face.
