HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

If Mike Vrabel was interested in tOSU job, I would fire Ryan Day immediately, without hesitation.

Otherwise, to me, Day gets 1 more year. Michigan will be expected to win The Game next year, for sure, but I don't give a shit. Show up next year or GTFO.

With the transfer portal and NIL's, I don't think any NFL coach would voluntarily want to go to college these days.

And all people did was complain about how much the QB ran and wanted more passing.
Totally true

I just was talking about intangibles for the position that Day may not value as much as Urban

I’ve just been thinking about CJs body language and how I don’t think I’ve ever watched him and thought…well that dude can definitely rally the troops.

Treyveon is not lean.

Right but he likes to bounce it to the outside and is known to have homerun ability. He got pulled in the Maryland game because he refuse to run between the tackles. There is also a mentality to being bruiser too. Guys with speed and homerun ability tend to shy away from wanting to run over defender or carry defender while turning out yards after contact.

I think most NFL coaches don't want to take a college job because the time commitment they have to put in for recruiting. Transfer portal and NIL almost makes it more like the NFL, they can recruit ready to play players and money can be set up to get that player almost like free agency in the NFL.

Is it CJ or Day? That’s what I don’t know. Is CJ allowed to lead or is Day the leader. You can laugh at JT or Tebow or even Krenzel but they took ownership..Holy Buckeye wasn’t the called play but Craig and Jenkins had the freedom to make that play.

Trevyeon WAS lean when he was in high school then it was determined he could add 20-30lb of muscle. He is not a bruiser back he is a track back who seems to shy away from contact in terms of always bouncing and going down after being touched.

imho he needs to lose the muscle and get down from 225 to 210ish I don’t think his body has adjusted well to adding that much weight

I'm a firm believer that some guys who are really coordinators just aren't cut out to be head coaches. We see it in the NFL all the time.

I hope that's not what we're seeing from Day, but it's starting to feel that way.
I think this HC/OC bullshit is for the birds and clearly is not working.

They need to not so kindly get him to extricate himself from being the play caller in chief.

Kevin Wilson is obviously a puppet OC, maybe for scouting purposes. Scouting is only there so Day can blow any recommendations off btw, and continue to just do the same stuff.

If Day believed in CJ truly he’d let him lead. Even in two minute situation they were constantly doing check with me. CJ by now should be so in tune with Day that he knows the plays and situation that he’d call that hurry up. If he doesn’t you see the QB play we see..

We sure do have a lot of puppets at OSU (heehee). Wilson is the puppet OC and Dennis is the puppet QB Coach (like Nick Siciliano).

I guess maybe we shouldn't have "puppet" anything.

If Gene Smith had a real review rather than his regular boilerplate one he gives Holtmann and Day, he'd actually recommend some things.

I think Day need some new staff to bring a fresh perspective on the offense. I think some of the problem is Day's offense has just gotten stale and there is so much tape on the tendencies of this offense. I'm not sure changing playcallers without a true overhaul of the offense makes much of a difference. Teams know what the Buckeyes want to do and what they do with formations/personnel.

I think there is an advantage to cycling through different OC and bring in someone from outside the program every couple years. They bring new plays and can change the tendencies because they have to deal with different personnel while still maintaining some of the previous offense.

College football is really about constantly evolving an offense even if you have a good offense because it doesn't allow opposing defenses to really key in on tendencies and predict what a team is going to do. Football in general is just about trying to catch the defense off guard.
