What has Day ever shown, at all, to make you think he has the level on introspection required to admit his offense is stale.
I think he showed a lot of good run concepts towards the end of the year that kept TTUN off balance in the first half. They changed numerous things, but it wasn't enough.
I'm all for criticizing, but let's not act like the guy is an idiot. They have QCCs and they've been scouting. You can't magic away holes in the team, though.
I thought we looked unorganized, committed too many penalties
Not sure if it’s been brought up, but in the postgame I found it a bit insulting when Day said “it was a game of two halves. We played well in the first half and we played poorly in the second half”.
Does anyone think we played well in the first half? I thought we looked unorganized, committed too many penalties, and Michigan missed a lot of opportunities to have us in a really bad spot going in at HT.
I don’t know….that answer kind of pissed me off. If he thought we played a good first half, I only have more questions….
I think they had the first half schemed up perfectly on offense. They played well, but failed to execute in key moments.
If to you that means they actually didn't play well, I won't argue.
I also don't think he's having someone self-scout the play calling tendencies. There were situations where TTUN jumped the play like they knew what was coming.
That's something I've noticed for two years now, and not just from C.J. Don't get me wrong, I love CJ for what he's done but that lack of fire and passion seems to be missing from the whole team. I think back to the 1 point come from behind win against PSU in the Shoe, with J.T. running up and down the bench getting in guys faces screaming "this is our house!" firing the team up. Where is that fire with this team? Hell, my wife has even commented about it several times. Every time they show the sideline, it seems like the guys are just sitting there emotionless.
I'm not saying I think they don't care because I'm sure they do, but it's just something else that has seemed "off" for a couple years now.
I heard that with a Tennessee drawl, if ya know what I'm sayin'.Not sure if it’s been brought up, but in the postgame I found it a bit insulting when Day said “it was a game of two halves. We played well in the first half and we played poorly in the second half”.

Again, this falls on the HC (and the rest of the staff). Whenever this team faces real adversity, they tend to go into a shell, get sloppy, and generally do not perform. That can be overcome when you can just out talent the other guys, but when they're a motivated team looking to hurt you, you get your dick kicked in the dirt.Definitely agree here. I had front row seats behind our bench in AA last year and the body language + lack of fire was pretty shocking. Jeremy Ruckert was the only one I saw with any fire, going and calling out the O Line and telling them we needed them, etc. Treveyon was basically moping, Dawand was beside himself and frustrated by his poor performance, but it was just very clear losing vibes long before the game got out of hand.

It starts with the head guy. Everytime he was on camera from the 2nd quarter on, Ryan Day looked like he'd just shit in his pants. How do you expect your team to rise to the occasion when the HC clearly doesn't think they can?
Well that one is off the table now.I think Gene Smith should talk to Ryan Day and encourage him to pursue the NFL sooner than later if that is his ultimate goal.
Luke Fickell is probably the most likely person to take over if Day moves on. I don't think we want Fickell to take a job at a better program and now have to convince him to leave to come back to the Buckeyes. I think Fickell ultimately wants to be HC for the Buckeyes but they shouldn't want to make it a hard choice for him if he builds up another big name program.
We just flat out got out coached. The faster our coaches accept it, the faster we move on and change.
