HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

Yes, but many are not experienced. The OL needs retuned. Hopefully Day gets rid of Stud. The DL I think is scheme. Something is off there big time.

There were some yungins on the OL, for example Jackson.

On the DL we have some players in the wings who will definitely wreak havoc. Just need for them to be put in a position to succeed.

I guess we are in a wait and see mode.

With that said, Day shows that he is about self preservation, so I would be surprised if there aren't some big changes coming.
WHAT!?!?
On OL we started NPF(Junior), Munford(Senior), Wylper(RS-Frosh), PJJ(Soph) and Jones(Junior)

Stud is one of our better coaches, especially at developing talent. And I doubt that starting 4 OTs was solely his idea, as I'm sure Day knew that that many OTs benefitted our pass game the most. Especially since Stud specializes in IOL. I can see Jones and Jackson starting next year with Munford and NPF leaving

some of you football guys tell me, is 6 coaches on the field normal… the tweet makes that seem abnormal.. for the juggernaut we are it does seem like we are “understaffed”

We aren't understaffed we just aren't allocating our spots well.

For example on offense it's Ryan Day, Wilson, Stud, Alford, Hartline and Dennis. For a total of 6.

Defense is LJ, Washington, Barnes and Coombs for a total of 4.

Then we added Fleming for special teams.

Considering how good Ryan Day is with the offense imo that special teams spot should have gone to another defensive coach. Then special teams could've been handled by someone like Matt Barnes.

The defense needs all the help they can get after 2 rougher years and considering how disinterested Day is with defense we really could use the extra coach there.

You have to figure a coach for each unit. QB, RB, WR, TE/OL, DL, LB, DBs C/S and Special Teams. Thats 8 or 9. Some are coordinators and some are assistants while the main guy is in the booth. I think I saw Bama has like 22 coaches counting advisors. You've also got all the trainers and S&C guys and medical. The sideline or field should probably have about 20 people overall for a road game with 85 travel roster and 100 home rosters. I imagine it's all up to the head coach but 6 is definitely not too many

right … but if you have 10 assistant coaches to have 6 of the 10 on the field is that abnormal? again I dont know if 6 is too high or too low… just asking

We had all but 4 coaches on the field at BG when I played. Thats a lifetime ago though so who knows how many are actually running around each staff now with the weird additions. I know the "analysts" aren't allowed to be coaching players directly so I could see them all in the booth with whichever coordinator is up there. That gives a lot of freedom for assistants and coaches to be in their units. That number seems normal to me.

That's not uncommon. 2-4 typically are in the box so yeah that means about 5-7 on the field.

thanks for the input… it was just specifically called out by the tweet which is why I asked..

I also think this could just be a weird year for traditional powers due to the COVID fuckery. Bama could easily have four losses by now if Florida, LSU, and Auburn had QBs worth a damn. Clemson has 3 losses and absolutely could’ve been more.

I dont think Covid had anything to do with it.
I called this last season: OSU, Bama and Clemson were all going into 2021 with Freshman QBs who saw very limited time last year. Not to mention also all 3 had new RBs, and multiple new starters on their OLs

I was out of town all weekend and haven't read all the threads so I apologize if this is redundant. I am also not sure where to put this, so if there is a better location for it, mods, please feel free to relocate.

While spending 8 hours on the road yesterday, I had a chance to put the emotion of the game behind me and think about things. Here is what I came up with...

Right now, we are a soft football program. Soft. We are over-hyped, entitled and feel like insist we should be able to get calls and wins just because of who we are. We are exactly who we've always made fun of ttun for being. We are a soft program right now. On Saturday, ttun came out and punched our guys in the mouth and instead of getting pissed and asserting our dominance, we backed down. Then they really started kicking our ass. There was nothing magical about ttun's gameplan, they just lined up and ran the ball down our throats. Everyone knew exactly what was coming and we had no response. Their guys beat our guys because they wanted it more. Now, I'm old enough to remember the late 80's and the 90's where this shit happened every damn year. I'm confident that Day will respond. He'd better, because I know he wont get 13 years to match 2-10-1.......
