HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

Michigan State giving Mel Tucker 10 year deal $95 million

Penn State giving Franklin a 10 year deal

Bama paying Saban avg of $9.75 million a year

Logic says Ryan should be in line for the first $100+ million deal

Didn't A&M back up the Brinks truck for Jimbo? Thought he was making a hundo already?

But I agree. OSU is going to need to up the ante to keep the NFL from calling and keep Day in Columbus long-term.

It will be interesting to see how PSU fans spin this. How incredibly embarrassing for them.
From reading their boards, a lot of them wanted him gone BEFORE this deal was announced. The majority opinion now seems to be that they are locked in to a decade of under-performance and relative mediocrity. My heart just breaks for them.

I hope it's not an NCAA violation that OSU is paying half of his contract so he'd stay at PSU

This will be an interesting offseason for Ryan Day. First loss to TTUN, failed to reach the B1G title game, and no chance at the playoff.

Both losses came down to one glaring weakness - the inability to stop the other team from running the ball down your throat. He's an offensive guy, but as head coach he has to have a plan for both sides of the ball. The defensive plan needs fixing. Whether that's scheme or personnel, or both, is for him to determine.

Whether or not he puts together a better defense will define how he does going forward. Those flashy offensive games against inferior opponents are fun, but if you get pushed around by big boy teams then you'll only go so far. That's simply not the standard at Ohio State, and I have no doubt that he knows it.

He'll be here the next 10 years unless he decides to leave on his own so people better stop hoping he gets replaced. That's insane

Now having said that, I do hope he goes clean slate on the defensive side except for maybe LJ Sr. Two of the most embarrassing losses I can remember as a 45 year Buckeye fan, are the last playoff vs Bama and today. Refresh the screen with new staff. Hafley getting his own gig is the worst thing that could have happened for Ryan Day but he's got to recover. Fast.

The “We’re slowly turning into Oklahoma” comments are asinine. Did you guys forget Day was HC when arguably the worst OSU defense ever turned into one of the best? Yes he made a bad hire but he also hit a home run with his first hire and at least tried to correct his mistake by demoting Coombs. Y’all acting like OSU hasn’t had a good defense in 20 years like Oklahoma.

People always overreact. There needs to changes on D. Day if anything is smart enough to self preserve and should make the changes where needed. He made changes right away after Oregon.

People need to remember that this team is very young and green. All over the board.

Next year they will have one hell of a team.

Michigan hit a sweet spot this year. They have a team of veteran players, they played at home against a very young OSU team. If anything Michigan fans are setting themselves up for disappointment, because they won't replicate that team for a while.

People need to calm the fuck down.

Corso seemed convinced on GameDay that Day was leaving for the NFL within the next year.
