Have I ever been too drunk to drive a grocery cart, but still drive a car? maybe once or twice a long time ago.

Have I ever had a few drinks and driven home? more times than I can count.

I actually drove home one night, parked the car, got out and locked it but didn't the motor skills or awareness to walk to the door and go in. I bounced off the walls of the garage a few times, tripped over the mower, puked on my bike and passed out half way into the mud room.

That's where my wife found me at 3 hours later when it was time to go to work.

How I got home alive is absolutely beyond me.

Seeing the direction this thread is heading, I have definitely driven after having too many drinks.

I was pulled over once on Summit St. after downing 16 beers for a roadblock. The officer simply told me how to get around and said "Have a nice evening".

There's no way in hell she didn't know I was drunk off my ass.

For the guys that say "no way and never have" I am guessing that you are under 35. Back in the day, prior to MADD and Nancy Reagan and "just say no", it was assumed that you got shit faced and drove. Doesn't make it right or wrong, it just was the way back then.

As low as the legal limit is, I'm pretty sure I've driven 'under the influence' once or twice in the past. I'm a very safe driver, though and always took the 'back roads'. I'm very careful these days and guage how many I've had and how long I've been drinking.

Yep. For the most part I'll cut myself off after 2-3 beers so that I'm technically legal, but two Friday nights ago I got into the car after having considerably too much too drink and then driving in one of Oahu's heaviest rainstorms in years...stupiest move I've done for ages. I thought long and hard all day the next day about what the fuck I did...

I've driven drunk, but I am by far the most responsible one among my drinking friends. Even when I was in college, there were certain rules I would abide by:

1. Never drive on the highway.

2. Both hands on the wheel.

3. Come to a complete stop at every stop sign, and use your turn signal.

I have always followed those rules. Now, I follow the rule of sleeping on other people's couches and walking. Otherwise, I won't get in a car if I've had more than two. It's just stupid, and I count myself as one of the lucky ones who never got caught or hurt anyone when I did drive under the influence.
