Mr Incredible came up with the perfect response to this --

Just a whole slew of us send Ryan a simple one liner -

We're with you.

OR

We Still Believe -- Better Luck Next Time

and this all goes away.

Oh yes & Mr I.

Now I know how many queries it takes for me not to give reputation...
reminds me of the lyrics about holes and the Albert Hall...

I don't know if it's appropriate or even if he'll read it, but I sent Ryan an e-mail of support. I did the same to Herbie when he was being bashed by Buckeye fans and he sent me a nice response letting me know that it was appreciated.

Far too often, those of us who think rationally, sit back and allow the extremist, opinionated minority to become the vocal majority. Whether anyone listens or not, if we aren't willing to work to be heard, then we deserve all of the generalities and labels that we've been recently branded with.

Absolutely right OilerBuck - we are the opinionated Majority - and we can make an impression for the good - an impresssion that will drown out the "vocal" minority.

Heaven knows I want Ryan in the best possible frame of mind when he throws that block to set Troy free on a Touchdown sprint against SD State!

A lady who works at OSU-Marion branch and I were discussing this today, and she went so far as to suggest I (or someone) send them a note via Tressel expressing support and regret for other fans' actions. She offered to find the address to send it to, if anyone is interested.

Hey sandgk, thanks for the reputation thought. Your thoughtfulness in backing the idea meant more to me because of our cause; these student-athletes aren't robots as some may make them out to be. Thank you- especially for that.

I really think this may help the kids if they get an overwhelming amount of emails. They got the negative ones, they'll get these. They need to know the good outweighs the bad, because it does. Of course the news will never pick up on this story, because only negative news is "newsworthy." However, Ryan and Justin's parents will know about it. The rest of the team will know about it. And if nothing else, we will know that we did what we could to help dig a kid or two out of a major rut in their life. Have you ever pulled over to help someone out of a ditch or change a flat tire? Do you remember how good it made you feel and the way they reacted to you? This is what life's about. This is what conquers all. Compassion for the human spirit has been stripped from our society and here is our small chance to take part of it back. The callous behavior of someone who can't even catch all of the balls a buddy may throw to them in the back yard will be far outshone by a community strongly supporting these college athletes. And in January, when they hoist that diamond football above their heads, you'll know you had a bigger part than any other fan in Buckeye Country even if you weren't able to attend one game.

If a bunch of you guys wanted to send something like that, we could combine a list of usernames and messages like this:

LRABuck - [message here]
Username - [Message here]
User2 - [message here]

And then send the letter with all of the messages down to Tressel to give to Ryan and/or Justin. It would be a nice gesture, if you guys think the idea has merit. It's just a thought.

As big of a play as it was, stuff like this is absolute nonsense. A TD catch probably would have locked up the game, but it didn't happen. Time to move on. My biggest problem with Ryan Hamby, as well as with most of the TE's we've had here over the past several years (Hartsock, Sanders, Lumpkin, Dudley) is that we don't throw the ball to them enough. The sad thing about this whole situation is that no matter what Ryan accomplishes this year, the "double-drop" will forever be his defining moment in the lore of TOSU football. That being said, anyone who sends this kid hate mail needs to either put a gun to their own head and put themselves out of their misery, or move to Michigan.
