The worst part is that the pic I showed in a previous post was of him and Nick Mangold at either James Cancer Hospital or Childrens Hospital. He as well as other athletes visit the hospitals every Friday. The sick fucks who wrote those letters, should really dig deeper to know a lil bit more about these athletes...Ill put up the article:

<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="567"> <tbody><tr><td class="title">Buckeyes Visit Local Hospitals on Fridays Before Home Games</td> </tr> <tr> <td class="text"> </td> </tr> <tr> <td class="text"> The Friday before each home football game, there is more on the Buckeyes' agenda than simply X's and O's in preparation for Saturday's game. After practice, a group of coaches and players from Ohio State visits two local hospitals: Children's Hospital and The James Cancer Hospital. These hospital visits date back to the days of Woody Hayes.

These people, including children at very young ages, deal with a different kind of challenge - one they meet head on with determination, motivation and a strong will. Though the coaches and players make the visit to give their support and give back, it's often the players that draw inspiration from these people.

The hospital visits are just one of many community activities the Buckeyes are involved in. Check back soon for additional pictures and stories.

If a bunch of you guys wanted to send something like that, we could combine a list of usernames and messages like this:

LRABuck - [message here]
Username - [Message here]
User2 - [message here]

And then send the letter with all of the messages down to Tressel to give to Ryan and/or Justin. It would be a nice gesture, if you guys think the idea has merit. It's just a thought.

I say we send something like that to the whole team, telling them we appreciate all the hard work they put in and to keep their heads up as they played hard and to come back next week and push hard for the big ten.

Signed Buckeyeplanet.com b/c I am sure everyone here would be behind that.

Complete Bullshit

The people who did this are not Buckeyes fans. They would like everyone to believe that they are, and probably even have themselves convinced that they are, but they definitely cannot be. Buckeyes fans would not stoop to this level of personal shame. They should be duct-taped to the outside of the Horseshoe, and for a few hours, allow real Buckeyes fans to drop by and decide their punishment. This is fucking embarrassing. To the University, to the Football team, to Hamby and Zwick (Lord knows, it's not like the punishment hasn't already been served.) And to all true fans of The Ohio State University. As said before, we could send 2 million positive emails stressing our disappointment in these acts and un-wavering support, but will go unnoticed to the public eye. Hamby and Zwick did not lose that game, it was Texas beating Ohio State. Every play could have turned out different, but it's the combination of the result of every play in the game that determines the final outcome. I'm almost sick to my stomach. I love the Buckeyes, and will forever, but it's days like these where our negative reputation as a fanbase can be well deserved sometimes. And it only takes a few assholes to put us in that spot. What a shame. The true fans will not waver on rooting for Ryan Hamby, whether he catches 25 passes next game or none at all. Go Bucks

I'm guessing Mod support is needed to get something like that started. But I was also thinking, it's getting kind of late in the week, and to send it too late would be to reiterate the past and "flog the dead horse" so to speak.

It's something we'd have to jump on if there's enough support.

would he still be getting hate mail if the pass was dropped on the 40 yard line

Unfortunately, maybe. If they had scored on the next play, he wouldn't. If he dropped that on a fourth down, then yes. It's an ugly part of sports that few people like.

All of these players are in college and only kids.

You're right, but I don't think that has anything to do with this situation. I don't think an NFL, MLB, or NBA player should get hate mail, death threats, or even a "FUCK YOU" at the grocery store for dropping a pass. Who in the entire world felt worse after that play than he did? Besides, why do people think that he owes the fans anything? He's out there every day practicing his ass off, and if he wasn't, Tressel would not let him on the field. (I get the feeling Tressel would rather have only 10 guys on the field than put in a guy who he isn't comfortable with.) The point is that he plays hard, and he plays well. The team did not win the game and the team needs to figure out a way for the team to win the next game.

How difficult would it be to set up a link so that we can each, individually, write our own stuff? Or was that your idea? I think a "greeting card" is a pretty good idea, but I'd like to be able to either attach my own words of encouragement or send something separately.

It might turn into a chat box sort of thing where morons would sign it saying idiotic things.
