Had the Cops Called on Me for Animal Endangerment

ORD_Buckeye

Wrong glass, Sir.
Took my dog out into the snow storm. Walked him up Clark Street, into Best Buy, into the bank then over to Lincoln Park to run around. Afterwards, walked over to North Pond Cafe (a very nice restaurant in the park) and, as I've done dozens of times before hooked him up outside and went in to have a martini.

The police showed up and said that they were investigating a possible case of animal abuse. This is my dog--2,000 years of breeding designing him to live on top of a Swiss Alp. He begs to go sit out on the deck in a lot colder weather than the 20 degrees that it was last night.

Cops were cool about it when they realized that, far from being endangered, he was happy to be out in the snow. It just really bothers me that nobody could have bothered to come into the restaurant first and speak with me...that their first response was to call CPD.

I'm sorry Mr. Mexico, you're gonna have to come with us.

Yeah, I would have called the cops also. You were rude in not getting your "buddy in the snow" a martini also.....

C'mon. We started the walk out at one of Lincoln Park's numerous dog boutiques where I purchased some dried lamb ears at $1 apiece that he munched on the whole night. That was far more important than a bowl of loudmouth soup.

I am just looking out for the dogs best interests. Besides he needed something to wash those lamb ears down....

Gee,the cops must have not gotten their free donuts & were cranky!

Nice dog & they are very hearty dogs. I groom dogs & have done this for 23 years & see nothing wrong with what you did.
I have a Newfoundland/Border Collie mix & both sides of her love it outside, especially the snow she goes nuts in it. She gets Fast Willie the Greyhound wound up in the snow but he pookers out quick.

Cops were actually pretty cool. Once they saw the breed and went over to pet him and examine him they realized that he was in no danger whatsoever. They were actually kind of apologetic and said that because there is real animal abuse out there that they take these calls very seriously. They did, however, use the occasion as a pretext to run my driver's license through the computer and make sure that I didn't have any warrants.

Overall Chicago cops are very professional and cool. You never run into the hardass hillbilly mentality that seems to afflict so many of Columbus' finest. Then again, Chicago cops truly are tough big city cops, so they don't have to make a show of being a badass as some Columbus cops feel the need to.

There's a dog at our local shelter that was found starving , chained and frozen to the ground. Fuckin' idiot owner should be chained out in the cold for a few days! :smash:
But, we know your a good owner, ORD!
