Never saw Archie play, so can't say for sure. Voted "Other" in honor of Mr. Byars. Based on talent alone, Clarett could have been better than all of them, had the worst O-line in my memory and still made great things happen with his superior vision. Throw in the takeaway that saved the title and I'll always have a soft spot for Mo C. I can't imagine the pain I'd still be carrying if we never got a championship after all those near-miss heartbreaks in the 90's and 00's.
Eddie is of course one of my very favorites, too, but few realize how much he benefitted from running behind Pace (and then Matthews). That being said, I'll forever remember watching him put up 314 yards on Simeon Rice, Kevin Hardy and a very good Illini defense at Ohio Stadium. And as we all know, Eddie is a total class act. Big bonus points.
Byars was El Hombre Grande, though, in my time. A complete back, so light on his feet for his size, and with those amazing hands.
Throw in Beanie, Boom, Antonio P. & the Quiet Storm.....we've been spoiled my friends. Who's next after Boom? Jordan Hall has impressed me for sure, but I'd like to see Rod Smith get more time, we all remember Eddie had the dropsies early on, would have been so sad if he wasn't given those extra chances to prove himself.
