Idk how they sustain success with so many off field distractions, and a national spotlight on so many issues with the law.

The SEC east is really weak besides Georgia. They have a historically weak schedule this year in particular, especially with the Oklahoma game being cancelled and being replaced with some no name G5 or maybe even fcs team (I forgot who they’re playing but it’s not a noteworthy team).

Point being, they should be fine in 2023.

If the distractions continue after, it’ll be interesting to see how it impacts them.

Either way, fuck em!

Why did the OU game get canceled?

I think it’s because OU joined the SEC and they figured that they might end up playing in-conference in the near future anyway. Something to that effect. But OU joining the SEC is the reason I’ve seen for why it was canceled.
Thought they just played this games but didn't count towards conference play unless it was a tie breaker. Oh well should be the 9th conference game anyway.

It was meant to be played before OU officially joined (or the first game)

It was scheduled to be and home and home in. 23 and 25. I guess they figured it wouldn’t make sense to do an OOC game for 23 and then have OU in 25. Kind of defeats the purpose of a home and home I guess. It at least that is what they’re saying:

Seems like OU was scheduled to play at Tennessee in 2024 too and canceled it.

Georgia's Kirby Smart 'first to admit' speeding issues continue

Georgia football coach Kirby Smart said Tuesday that he hasn't yet solved the speeding issue that has plagued his team but that he is "constantly looking and searching" for ways to address it.
.
.
.
M'Pemba's citation was at least the 11th traffic-related moving violation involving Georgia football players and their cars since Jan. 15
.
.
.
"I'll be the first to admit we haven't solved that issue or problem," Smart told reporters during a news conference. "I don't honestly know that anybody has, but certainly for us, it's important to acknowledge it first. We've had a lot of intervention in terms of talking and visiting, and discipline measures have been implemented in terms of education. We'll continue to do that."
.
.
.
"NIL has given some of our players -- and players in general -- the capacity to get probably faster [cars]," Smart said. "It's not necessarily just the volume of the speeding tickets, it's the speed of the speeding tickets. And that's a bigger concern to me -- the speed of the speeding tickets. Because high speeds, according to the Georgia State Patrol, which talked to our team, is where you get bigger accidents. That's the biggest concern we have in regard to that."

Smart said players have been disciplined internally for speeding citations. When players were returning to campus after the July Fourth holiday, coaches texted them, urging them to get back safely and be careful.

"I wish that we could prevent speeding issues and learn from a horrific and tragic event," Smart said. "I'm still wrestling with that, and we talk about it as a staff and all the things we can do. We've got issues with traffic citations and speeding issues that we have to improve on. We have to get better at those, and I'm constantly looking and searching for that."

Why did the OU game get canceled?

The game was scheduled to be in Norman with the return game in 25 in Athens.
This year they would be in the Big 12 (obviously) and 2025 in the SEC. This created two problems:

1). Would have made the league a bit beholden to an agreement made before OU was even considering joining the SEC and would have automatically slotted a league game in Athens which would have thrown other SEC scheduling all out of wack. UGA would have likely had to drop either UT/Auburn/Cocktail Party game vs UF to accommodate and that still puts a damper on OU building an SEC schedule.

2). No real desire to give Fox the big ratings that would have come from a UGA at OU game. This game will eventually happen and will do so under the SEC's control and timeline and current agreement with ABC/ESPN

Item 1 makes total sense. The league shouldn't totally shift future scheduling plans to accommodate one OOC game.
Item 2 is simply sticking it to a competitive TV network

FWIW - I’m “meh” on this amount of games with Clemson.
I don’t think there is an inherent amount of buzz for the game after the 3rd and I’d rather play somebody else noteworthy.

There's no shortage of buzz for watching you guys boat race Dabo. Hopefully it happens five times in a row.
