Georgia Bulldogs (2021-2022 National Champions)

Brother - we did the character thing for 15 years with Coach Richt. Trust me when I say it's better on the dark side.

You have to wonder if they are taking talent over character.
No doubt about it! Smart has the weight of the world on his shoulders to 3peat for the NC And SEC and keep his foot on Saban‘s neck. He also will have to battle a surging LSU is they make it to the SECCG, and in the East Tennessee and fake USC are surging. And this is CFB with kids as the players, so ego also has a lot to do with sustaining this success too. Talent is there, but Urban has some pretty talented teams after his 2008 title, and they couldn’t win the conference.

Embrace the dark side buddy. 2 straight NCs, there’s nothing any fanBase can tell you right now. You guys have the crown, the belt, the ring, and whatever other title to show you’re on the mountaintop.

Florida, Georgia exercise option to keep ‘Cocktail Party’ in Jacksonville through 2026

The annual rivalry game between Florida and Georgia will be played in Jacksonville at least through 2025.

The Southeastern Conference schools released a joint statement announcing their decision to exercise a two-year option in the contract to keep playing at TIAA Bank Field, home to the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars. The universities had until June 30 to let the city know if they were picking up or declining the option.

“The City of Jacksonville has been an historic host for one of the great rivalry games in all of college football,” Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin said in a statement. “We are excited to have the game in Jacksonville for another two seasons.”

Georgia coach Kirby Smart has been outspoken about wanting to move the game to campus sites for recruiting purposes. NCAA rules prohibit schools from hosting recruits at neutral sites, although Florida and Georgia are allowed to leave tickets for recruits.

But Smart would prefer face-to-face contact, something he could get if the game was played in Athens.

“I firmly believe that we’ll be able to sign better players by having it as a home-and-home because we’ll have more opportunities to get them to campus,” Smart said last season.

Florida coach Billy Napier, meanwhile, has expressed a desire to maintain the status quo.

“The underlying issue here is the economics,” Napier said earlier this week. “It’s very beneficial for both teams to play the game there.”

The payout from Jacksonville is expected to be roughly $3 million for each school in 2023, a figure that includes $1.25 million guaranteed plus a split of ticket revenue and concession sales. The guaranteed payout for each school increases to $1.5 million in 2024 and 2025.

Georgia also receives $350,000 annually to cover its charter flights, buses and lodging while Florida receives $60,000 because no flights are required.

No thanks.

I don't want those Jort wearing, Tom Petty Karaoke singing, mouth breathers anywhere near Athens.

Nor do I ever want to step foot in Gainesville.

Kirby has made a valid point about the Cocktail Party and Neutral site games.
He basically wants to do one or the other, not two in a season. I suspect 2024 is the last "Kickoff Classic" game you'll see the Dawgs play in quite some time. He simply doesn't want to give up the home game for recruiting purposes. Either open at home against a decent team or make the gators series home and home*. But get the extra home game.

*FWIW - this might happen eventually as the renderings from Jacksonville's new stadium indicate a multi year project which would force a home and home in the series similar to what happened in 95/96.

You can tell those are artists renderings because they look nice. And are supposed to be in Jacksonville Florida.

There is nothing nice in Jacksonville Florida.
