Depends on how you look at it. Because we are #1 for all sports. So he's just focusing on the other sports.

An image keeps popping in my head.

Coach Matta and the Men's Basketball team have success and win either the Big Ten regular season championship or the Big Ten Tournament (or both, knock on wood) and then I hear boos when Gene Smith either presents the trophy to Coach Matta or is near the stage.

If a inevitable change is made in leadership, which seems likely, this job seems to have opened up within the NCAA.

Might be a reference to the death penalty. A lit-tle intimidating considering who it's coming from and what post it follows. :paranoid:

I will confess I know my post was in bad taste. The only justification I can offer is that I believe members of the same club are allowed to mock each other. And, in my swiftly advancing years, I consider myself to be well along the path to full membership in the Dead Mammas Club.

In fact, it wouldn't be statistically improbable for me to drop dead at any given moment now (thus belatedly fulfilling virtually decades-worth of fervently expressed wishes by literally scores of people--friends, former friends, in-laws, spouses, acquaintances, business associates, ex-lovers & total strangers on the street--that I do precisely that.)
