VY isn't just an open field runner, however.

The guy is slippery... impossible to tackle. Well not impossible, but did you SEE that meatchicken game?
I'm sure we all saw it, and Young's performance was extremely impressive. At the same time, did you see Troy Smith's performance against Michigan (I know you did)? He lit 'em up just as brightly, with his arm and his feet. That's not to denigrate Young: it was a great performance and he's a great athlete, but I don't see that one game as propelling him to unstoppable status.

Something that needs to be pointed out is that OSU dominated a very good Michigan OL all day long. Texas had some pressure, but they were not in the backfield nearly as often as OSU. Now I'm not saying that's proof that our DL is better than yours. Rather what it points out is taht even though your OL is very talented, our DL has dominated a top notch group like yours. National champs just rated Michigan's OL next year as #1 and Texas as #4.

WR rankings are next :osu4:

in closing, this is hilarious and loosely fits the GOTP:

CFB news predictions

Pete Fuitak:
Texas at Ohio State: Early Line: Texas -1.5 ...
How do beat a fast quarterback? Fast, talented linebackers. Ohio State has the best linebacking corps in the country and a smart, speedy secondary that won't let Vince Young rip off too many big runs. What won't be talked about much is the Texas defense that'll keep the Buckeye offense under wraps. Expect a classic, but primetime hyped games never turn out that way.
Way-too-early pick: Ohio State 20 ... Texas 13

Richard Cirminiello:
Sept. 10, Texas at Ohio State: Early Line: Texas -1.5 ... Holy crap. Do whatever it takes to clear the primetime schedule for this first-ever clash between these two mighty programs. Heisman fortunes will be at stake, and the winner instantly gets installed as the biggest threat to USC’s quest for a three-peat. With a national TV audience and more than 101,000 stoked fans in attendance, the impact of home-field advantage should not be understated. Beyond the intangibles, however, Ohio State with their sensational linebackers has one of the only defenses in America that can lasso Vince Young. And without a true feature back to lean on, A.J. Hawk will be able to spy the quarterback until the lights go off. Unlike Pasadena, neither Cedric Benson nor the wobbly Michigan D will be in the House, and the crowd will be anything but neutral. Young will get loose on occasion, but Ted Ginn will be everywhere, and the Buckeye defense will be the show-stopper on this night.
Way-too-early pick: Ohio State 24 Texas 19

Matthew Zemek:
) Texas at Ohio State: Early Line: Texas -1.5 ... I think Ohio State is the third-best team in the Big Ten, behind Iowa (first) and Michigan (second). I have this view because the Buckeye program has not evaded the clouds of controversy, specifically with respect to a star player who carries all of the team's hopes on his back. Troy Smith has to have his mind right, and his game sharp, for the Bucks to beat Texas and have a breakout season, and while that may indeed happen, I can't say I'm confident that will happen. Let it be said once more, and with emphasis, that this is not a commentary on anything that's happened to Smith off the field; the rights and wrongs of the matter represent another discussion for another day. Regardless of the justness (or lack thereof) of Ohio State Football's off-field problems, what cannot be denied is that it is a distraction, and that Smith's accordingly reduced lack of on-field reps leading into the Texas game will leave him in a comparatively poorer position. Texas is likely to be a happier, sharper and more confident team heading into this contest.
Way-too-early pick: Texas over Ohio State 20-14

John Harris:
Texas at Ohio State: Early Line: Texas -1.5 ... These two greats match up in Columbus, and all of the pressure will be on Longhorn QB James Street to run the option, making all the proper decisions against the Jack Tatum led Ohio State defense. Randy Gradishar and his linebacking corps will have their hands full taking on Earl Campbell, Ricky Williams and Cedric Benson in Darrell Royal’s wishbone offense. For the Buckeyes offense, it’s going to revolve around the matchup with Orlando Pace at tackle against Kenneth Sims, who moves to DE to face off against the Buckeye behemoth. Archie Griffin has the quicks to exploit the Texas defense if Pace and his OL brethren can ‘own the corner’. Keep an eye on the Joey Galloway-Jerry Gray tête-à-tête in the passing game, as well. The team that can find some success in the passing game will win this football game.
Way-too-early pick:
Buckeyes – 27 vs. Texas – 23.

Only one to pick against us used the good ol' "cloud over the program routine" to justify it.. sounds good to me.

AJ Hawk can practice with this girl, she looks just as "slippery" as Vince Young in the open field. She also has a "tackle me" look in her eyes (or something like that :biggrin2: ) It's perfect! Heh heh.

Hey, I've looked at my share of naughty pictures, so don't take this the wrong way. She's right near the top of the GOTP's, however...

It's one thing when there is a random Open Discussion thread or something pertaining to girls, but this is a Texas football thread... and we are gonna have young kids and people at work unwittingly clicking on this thread.

Considering this is probably THE thread for the offseason, it might be nice to save those pics for other threads. I'm not asking for any change in Open Discussion threads like Hot Girls and such... I just think it would be a better move for BP's community to not make the Texas game NSFW.

This doesn't relate to this year's game, but I was amazed to see that Texas already has 17 commits in the 2006 class, all from in-state and all committed by the first week of April. Two months into the year, and they only had to hand-pick a few more recruits to fill out the class.

Looks like Mack has it down to a science. He just has to hope that those guys continue to develop.

I just wanted to point out the team's philosophy on recruiting. But this thread isn't the place to discuss the pros and cons of very early signees.

Hello Buckeye Planet

Hey Buckeyes,

I first wanted to say, great site, great community... You all do a good job on this board.

second.. I read the posts up until about page twenty and my eyes started to burn so I jumped to the last 3 pages of posts... so if this has been said sorry.

I haven't seen HAWK, play except a limited amount of highlights... But it seems to me that some of the Buckeye fans think Hawk, will put Vince Young (the king of the Texas Two-Step) in Check. I personally will have to see it to believe it. If Hawk, can do it...(I don't know if he can or not) he will be the first I know of to get it done. On every level I have seen Vince make people look, foolish, and the Rose Bowl, cannot be debunked as a horrible defense, who is unable to tackle. Vince seems always to run just fast enough to be a step ahead of the competition.

I remember hearing the same thing about Teddy Lehman gonna knock Vince into next week. And we all know that Teddy Lehman runs a legit 4.3.

In 2003 his Red-shirt Freshman year.

Well, we might as well just not play the game, seeing as nobody can tackle Vince Young, and he scores on every play. Oh wait, wasn't there a game last year where Texas didn't even find the end zone? No, that can't be, since no one can even tackle Vince Young. :roll1:

You know, if you were to read the 70 fucking pages in this thread, nearly everyone deals with Vince fucking Young. I don't know about everyone else, but I'm about tired of hearing about Vince Young.
