More Pittman please.

4. Pittman, could of seen more of you for sure.

Pittman had a great day. He played well beyond expectations... especially against a mammoth D.

Problem is, he never got a breather... he was beaten down by the end. I have immense respect for him. You could see that his tank was on empty and he didn't hesitate to go back in, but I have to think that if one of our other backs stepped up (perhaps they had a bad week of practice???), then Pitt could have been rested, and not had to take that kind of a beating.

How bout we work on Schnittker, Wells, and Haw next week? Tony needs time to heal.

Well played games by both sides. It's hard to lay blame in such a scenario. However, if the idea is to figure out what went wrong and where hope lies, you have to identify the problem areas.

In my opinion, the loss has to be blamed on Tressel. I definitely am a Tressel fan, but he can make mistakes. If you live by Tressel ball, you die by Tressel ball. Its main fault is that it allows the other team to win if their offense makes a play at the right time.

You have to be more aggressive on offense against a stout defense. Running a spread without gutsy calls just limits you further. Nothing downfield. Throwing to Gonzo over the middle? Obviously not his strength. If Texas is going to get interception chances 5 yards from the LOS like they did tonight, you might as well throw deep passes where the potential for gain is higher. We did not exploit our talent at WR. Granted, Texas' DBs played better than expected but it's hard to tell how much better b/c they were not tested. We would have been better off running the I the whole game.

Everyone played as forecasted: VY was only ok for most of the game; our linebackers were unreal; our quarterbacks both played average; both our lines played good enough; kicking game was great; turnovers in our favor. Under the Tressel formula, that should be enough to win. The problem is NO offense. You can't expect the defense to step up much more.

The saddest thing is watching our linebackers after the game. They layed it on the line the entire game and played as well as they could have. Sad to see seniors in that position coming up on the losing side.

Now time to look to next week. We lost to a good team.

I havent heard too much talk about the recievers or mainly Teddy Ginn. The QBs are spposed to get the ball to the wide outs, but you cant do that if they arent open. Ginn touched the ball only THREE times from the LOS. He had two dropped passes that were huge in the game to set the tempo. I think Holmes did a GREAT job with what he ahd to work with. Gonzolez didnt get much attention, but he made a few key first down grabs (as always - Michigan and Alamo TD). Our QBs can only be as good as our open recievers. Sorry, but TG was effective against Miami, when we needed him to step up another level to phenom - it was nowhere to be found. He was doubled down and sure he still has some growing pains - but hey kiddo you are playing #1 Flanker for THE Ohio State Univeristy. Dont be afraid to put on a #7 jersey (that has been doned by greats like Chris Gamble, Joey Galloway, Boby Hoying and even Tressel wore it Baldwin Wallace) if you arent prepared to step up in big games and make the big plays.

speaking of next year, does texas lose alot of players?
Yes. This team is primarily loaded with the 2002 class (which rivals ranked #1 and some experts called one the best ever). Those who didn't redshirt graduate this year and those who did redshirt (i.e. Vince) will be back next year. Most of them were good enough to play their freshman year so there weren't many redshirts given that year. We had Simms in 2003 so Vince redshirted.

And Vince is definitely coming back for his senior year no matter what the pros offer him. He has said repeatedly that getting a degree is a top priority for him and his family.

FYI Sweed in 6'5", go look at the replays, the coverage was good, but he simply outjumped and used great hands to reel in the ball.

Dude, you've left twice...go away

J/K Seriously though, that ball was right where it needed to be. Fox, hell Winfield, wouldn't have stopped that one.

Our D gave up 400 yards of offense, and our DL was basically invisible - the outstanding play of the LB's almost (but not quite) made up for the weaknesses up front.

I have to respectfully disagree on all counts. Yes, we gave up some yards, but against that type of offense any defense will give up a lot of yards. Our defensive line did a great job occupying blockers so our linebackers could roam freely, we got key turn overs that nearly changed the outcome of the game, and other than the first two drives contained and beat the crap out of the most dangerous QB in college football.

Our DL should be invisible if they are doing their jobs, our defensive system relies on the DL to occupy blockers so our line backers can make plays. Yes, there were some blown coverages on the running backs, but for the most part our linebackers were able to play sideline to sideline because Texas was forced to stay in and block our line. If you cannot get blockers to the second level the DL has done a fine job.

yeah, i expected schnittker to have a bigger role tonight. i really liked pittman as well. he runs bigger than his size imo. but your right, we definitely need a number 2 guy behind him.

I had to stay up the entire night to listen to the game. The bandwidth was quite congested tonight and I did not hear most of the game.

It is really difficult to watch these online scoreboards hang for five or ten minutes and then regroup with four plays and the ball has changed hands.

Congratulations to Texas. It is not easy to come into the "Shoe" and win and they did it.

I am sure that Ohio State will regroup. Losses by the top 3 Big Ten teams to out of conference opponents, the loss of Miami Ohio to a lowly rated Central Michigan, and wins by every other top 25 team will affect the computer ratings, I don't think we will like what this does to our computer ratings later in the year. There is little doubt in my mind that the combinations of these events has hurt our chances of playing in the BCS very badly.

I know this is just a game and all that. I cannot begin to tell you how disappointed I am.

In my mind, most big games come down to execution in critical moments and the guys didn't get it done in a couple of those today.

I am still proud of the way that Ohio State came back from the early deficit. I am proud of the tradition of this program. And I will continue to hope against hope that they can get into the NC game.
