Game Thread Game Two: Texas 25, Ohio State 22 (final)

This one hurts without a doubt. We had the opportunities and didn't get it done. Congratulations to Texas.

That being said, I actually feel better about our team after this game than before it. We stood toe to toe with one of the top teams in the country and quite frankly dominated them for most of the game. I knew our defense was good, but I did not realize they were that good. Our offense was not that bad either. Yes, we should have put up a lot more points, but there is a reason Texas is the number two team in the country. We played a top team and still were able to move the ball and perform like world beaters on defense.
With all the carnage in the top ten today I do not see us falling that far in the rankings. If we win out I think we have a real shot at the Rose Bowl and a NC. With the way we played tonight and the inevitable losses that will happen to the top five teams I don't see how you could make a case for keeping us out of the game. We need to win out and do so impressively enough that we seperate ourselves from the other one loss teams. I do not think there will be two undefeated teams at the end of the season.

no i havent, but i look at it as more as common sense, almost everyone you ask will say that ohio state has one, if not the greatest atmosphere in the nation, not many other schools care about the band as much, or the kicker, which is why im biased towards ohio state.

Well, in all reality, how can your biased opinion hold any more weight against his biased opinion? Texas A&M has a great tradtion of atmosphere as well.

Both QBs played well, but not well enough tonight.
I hate to disagree with you, C-dog, but I thought that both QB's were pretty lousy tonight - bad decisions, bad throws, not much leadership (did you really get the feeling that either guy was going to take this team on his back and lead the Bucks to the victory? Think back to Krenzel, and how he single-handedly willed the Bucks to victory time and again.). Plus, now we have a full-blown QB controversy....

Sadly, while Zwick was unfairly slammed and persecuted before, it will be FAR worse for him now.

I sure hope not, because as you stated neither stood above the other. If anything, I think their performances tonight make it more difficult for the coaches. What I take away from the game tonight is that Zwick has improved from last year and Smith is not Superman.

Not to be negative, but I don't know how Tressel will get out of this one, either. A whole lot of people are rabidly on one side or the other (mostly one side, I think, but I could be wrong). This reminds me of another situation I'd rather not remember because of how ugly it got...

Here are a couple of videos of from the Aggie War Hymn.

This is the part of "Saw Varsity's Horns Off"

I think you know who it's referring to.......

Everyone in the stadium sways side to side....it actually moves the stadium.......and if you look up and over to the other side you sometimes get dizzy from looking.

why am i being picked on? i bet you would have trouble finding anyone on this site that says kyle field has a better atmosphere than the ohio state university.

Picked on? I am just disagreeing with you...

After your extremely strong words earlier, you should be able to take what you dish out.

I am as big of a homer as there is on this board, but I also know when to tip my cap. You might need to learn that one.

Unfortunately, it's going to get worse. People rabidly in the Smith camp are going to take the fact that Zwick was in with 2:30 and fumbled and Smith came in at the 1 wth :30 left and turn it into something it's not.

Well, lol, I might have uniformly overadjusted on the "well" in order to appease both sides. My feeling is more that neither stood out significantly above the other. Smith provided a change in momentum, Zwick (I think) passed better, Smith (I think) ran better -- I just don't think the QB controversy got anything but worse tonight.

You have to pick one and stick with them. Personally I prefer the classic drop back passer, but Smith does seem to move the team better.
