Were you there?

It's not even so much disrupting the other team, either, though the noise can do that, as it is our D feeding off the energy, too. It's hard to argue they did that tonight.

Seriously......go to a game at Texas A&M.......Texas is used to the noise. It did get them a couple of times...but for the most part they are used to it.

Err...OK....did you catch the part about our team feeding off the noise?

My only point was you can't tell how loud the stadium is on TV.

All i'm telling you is that Kyle Field has been alot louder than The Shoe tonite...........even Guiness showed up against OU......they came really close to breaking a world record. It is one place that you should see a game at.

Texas can play with the noise....

QB Controversy no more. Troy Smith should be the QB. If anything, he kept us in the game.

Okay, I always end up sounding like a Justin Zwick cheerleader and apologist, but that's really only because I choose to stand up and say something when I feel he's not getting a fair shake.

Here are the numbers;

PASSING:
Justin Zwick 9/15 66 4.4 0 0
Troy Smith 5/11 77 7.0 1 0

RUSHING:
Troy Smith 13 28 2.2 0 11
Justin Zwick 5 18 3.6 0 14

Even if you don't take into consideration drops by Gonzo and (of course) by Hambone in the endzone, the stats don't tell a story about one QB just blowing the other out of the water.

Truth be told, I honestly feel like Justin was *significantly* the more effective passer tonight. I think he made better reads and decisions.

However, I think Smith sparked the team with his mere presence and effective running when he came in. I credit him with a change in momentum that gave us our first lead.

I really don't know, for myself, who the better QB is. I do know, for myself, that one isn't just head and shoulders better than the other. Smith had some dropped passes too, but it was defenders with the dropsies. Zwick revisited an old weakness and floated a key pass over Holmes. Smith shouldn't have taken the safety. Zwick should have done everything humanly possible to prevent having that ball punched out. Smith stalled in the redzone, what, 3 times in a row? When Ryan dropped that pass in the endzone, Zwick did too.

As a team, when the TX D was clustered tighter in the shadow of their own endzone, we came up short. With *both* QBs.

Pittman ran well with both QBs. Ginn was a non-factor with both.

Sadly, while Zwick was unfairly slammed and persecuted before, it will be FAR worse for him now.

Both QBs played well, but not well enough tonight. Both did things to help us win. Who deserves more credit? Smith, I think, for providing the spark that turned the momentum away from Texas. But who the hell cares about 'more credit' when you've just lost a heartbreaker on the national stage against a top tier legitimate title chaser?

Some Buckeye fans, that's who.

Second game of the season. Long ways to go. I don't know, OR CARE, who starts (or doesn't) at QB next week. I'd suggest that anyone who says it's clear cut from a coaching and team management perspective, can only see the forced fumble, and can't get over their own bias.

From a fan's perspective? Sure! Nothing wrong whatsoever for believing in one guy over the other. Entirely natural to have a preference if that's how you approach the team and game. I don't fault or take issue with anyone who says "I just think our offense is more exciting with Smith, I would always rather see him start."

What I think is both foolish and ignorant (and I'm not reducing your post to this, just making the point) is; "Zwick sucks and loses us games, he chokes, he's terrible, he's clearly the inferior QB, anyone who says Smith isn't far better is stupid."

no i havent, but i look at it as more as common sense, almost everyone you ask will say that ohio state has one, if not the greatest atmosphere in the nation, not many other schools care about the band as much, or the kicker, which is why im biased towards ohio state. our fans love everything about the team and the university.

ive seen both on tv, kyle field looked loud last year when they were up on oklahoma, but i dont see it as the same, sorry.

Yes. That's probably the one thing OSU fans can take comfort in ... VY might not have run away with the Heisman tonight ... Teddy Ginn most certainly didn't since his touches seemed to be limited, but I think AJ made a strong statement for the Butkis tonight. AJ was all over the place ... tackles, sacks, TFLs, fumble recoveries, INTs ... I'm proud AJ stepped up tonight.
