I have to respectfully disagree on all counts. Yes, we gave up some yards, but against that type of offense any defense will give up a lot of yards. Our defensive line did a great job occupying blockers so our linebackers could roam freely, we got key turn overs that nearly changed the outcome of the game, and other than the first two drives contained and beat the crap out of the most dangerous QB in college football.

Our DL should be invisible if they are doing their jobs, our defensive system relies on the DL to occupy blockers so our line backers can make plays. Yes, there were some blown coverages on the running backs, but for the most part our linebackers were able to play sideline to sideline because Texas was forced to stay in and block our line. If you cannot get blockers to the second level the DL has done a fine job.
The Bucks did not have one impact play from the DL all night; and only one last week (the Kudla sack). If your DL can't make impact plays, then you're simply putting too much pressure on the back 7 or 8 (in the nickel). Look back to 2002, and all of the impact plays from Smith, Scott, Anderson, Peterson, even David Thompson. The DL has to step up, or the Bucks overall defense will suffer.

Looking back, it's amazing how good Anderson was.

I agree that we could use some better play from our DL, but you will not see huge production on the DL in a defense that features the line backers. I think we will see some more impact plays from our DL when we start to play some more traditional offense, these spread shot gun offenses also make it more difficult to make impact plays on the DL.

17 carries isn't a true definition of OSU football...

Give him or the other running backs a least 30 running plays and I think we secure a better red zone presense.

Pittman played well more carries could have helped IMHO

Agreed, we do not run the ball enough. When you establish the line of scrimmage via the rushing attack it opens up your offense that much more. We whould be primarily a run offense setting up the play action pass. Our offensive line was getting a good push tonight, we should have run the ball after each of those turnovers. It controls the clock and forces the safeties to cheat up opening up the pass attack.

I guess I defined Pittman's 'great' day based on his good runs, and maybe ignored the plays that didn't go his way.

He read holes, followed his blocks and--most importantly--he FOUGHT for yardage. It's just that he seemed to me to really sell out on every play. He took hit after hit, when he was visibly hurting, and he got up to do it again.

Is he going to win the Heisman before he's done? most likely not. But he's a fighter, and that's enough for me.

Congrats to the Bucks...from a 'Horn...

Hey guys,

Current UT student here...big time college football fan. I just wanted to congratulate you guys on the amazing game. It really could have gone either way...one of those "whoever has the ball last" kinda things.

I cant stress enough how impressed I was by the play of Hawk and crew. What an amazing linebacking corps. Your defense is going to keep you guys in the hunt for a Big 10 Title/possibly even an MNC this year...I have no doubt.

Can't wait to see you guys down here next year. Take care until then.

Are you fricking kidding me......

Hamby catch the fricking ball.

Don't take a negative yardage sack when three points is truly a back-breaker!

Please current Buckeye players plays as hard when JZ is in the game as you do when TS is in, this baffles me to the fricking rafters.

More Pittman please.

Play calling in the red or maybe dead zone, room for improvement fo sure... Arrrrrrrrghhh!!!!

I really hate to bitch about Refs but seriously c'mon!!!!

hats off to:

1, Texas and their fans.
2. Troy Smith for rallying us.
3. A.J. you are special.
4. Pittman, could of seen more of you for sure.
5. Holmes great game!!!
6. Our school and fans for being classy and loud.
7 Josh kicking through the uprights all night.

I'm going to finish my 100th JD and coke and curl up in a ball and replay what fricking should have been...

Much love too all the members of the Planet....

I've already shown my way out....

Aside from the refs comments, I think this is right on.

three things

1. Hambys dropped ball in endzone.
2. missed safety oppurtunity in endzone (returns the ball to 35 yard line instead)
3. not capitalizing on great field position.

man this hurts so much. but i swear if oklahoma beats texas, i will be so happy. too bad LSU couldnt have lost tonight that would have helped. alot.

No, no, no. Believe me, if we would have won Texas fans would be bitching for years about their tight end dropping a couple of big passes and their D giving up too many yards to Troy on the ground. After all, he's not a 6'5" Mike Vick.:wink2: We got beat. I hate it, it sucks, but if you love Ohio State you'll be rooting for an 11-0 Texas team and a Vince Young Heisman. That way we look good to the media/harris poll geniuses and Archie's record will still stand.

Great effort by our kids tonight. I know we came up 1 or 2 plays short, but they played with passion and intensity for 4 quarters. I don't think anybody other than tOSu fans will question their heart or talent after tonight.

Let's win the Big Ten!:oh: :io:

Cicero,

Theres a very good likelyhood!

If UT can keep it together, and win against OU then we're in.

all we need is for USC to lose to someone, and for y'all to winout.

That would be a hell of a game wouldn't it? I think this loss being early in the season helps us out a lot. We need to keep winning and hope enough of the teams in front of us lose a game. The odds are that most of them will.

Thanks Prodigy, appreciate the sentiments. Do us a favor and win out, most of us will be pulling for you, and *really* looking forward to a chance at redemption next year.

If ya'll were to roll into the RB with just this lose, and we get in too!!

WOW! this game would be the super-charged! Possible one of the greatest Rose Bowls ever! A Chance at redemption!

Fuck, fuck fuck. I'd like to hate you guys, but then you have to pull this southern hospitality crap. Why can't you be assholes like scUM fans?:wink2: Like I said in other thread, good game, I hope you sons of bitches win out and see you in Austin in 2006. Hook the rest of 'em so we look good.:oh: :io:

I was not pleased w/ the playcalling in the 2nd half. I also think we should have punted instead of trying the 50 yarder. Ginn could take a few lessons about heart and concentration from Pittman-I was pleased with his effort tonight- he hit the holes, ran hard, showed heart- he did what he was supposed to do. Jamaal Charles is one slippery SOB-I was very impressed by him. Oh well, Tressel makes the big bucks and the big decisions, the 'planet is here for us to vent on, and the Shoe will still be rockin this year......
