Okay, I'm getting waaaaaaaaay ahead of things here, so please excuse me.

When was the last time the Buckeyes played in 95 degree heat with 80% humidity? Will these conditions in any way affect them in Austin in 2006? It just seems like tOSU almost never plays away games in September and when they do it's a northern team like Wazzu. I suppose the game last year against NC State might have been similar.

I remember Stanford struggling big time. But Notre Dame seemed to do just fine, although it was a little cooler if memory serves. Didn't affect UCLA at all. (damn you John Mackovick)

This is also a good time to point out that I'm glad this year's game is in September. I would not be excited about our chances if it was supposed to snow (coupled with playing a night game in the Shoe, of course).

The heat index in Columbus was 105 today. I think they know how to handle heat.

It's funny, NC State fans brought up the same argument. Turned out, it was about 90 for the game in Columbus, and about 60 for the game the next year in Raleigh.

If they played anytime in July, they would have exceeded these temperatures. Today's heat index was 105+, and it was even absurdly hot back in late June (90+, muggy, no clouds, no wind).

I'm sure its a little hotter down there, but I think your home field advantage will be more about feeding off of the crowd than us wilting in heat 5 degrees hotter than what we are used to.

If it really was hard to get used to the heat, we could just have our players wear a non-breathable cotton t-shirt (instead of a drifit one) under our pads.

edit: whoops didn't see this post by cleve... I replied before seeing the last page.

I had no idea.

My aunt is visiting from Indiana. She says it's usually pretty dry and rarely gets over 92 or so during the summer. I just assumed the weather was the same in Columbus.

"EH, that's what you get for assuming"
Yes it is.

Well dammit to hell. Guess the Bucks will feel right at home then. Weather-wise that is.

Keep in mind we handled Watson and Woodley (who is better than your edge rusher)...

2005 CFN Preseason Second-Team All-Americans
Gabe Watson, Sr., Michigan
Watson should be in the NFL. The 6-4, 331-pound senior is a true anchor n the nose able to take on two blockers without much of a problem. He's not a statue; he's a quick interior pass rusher when his gas tank is full. He needs to improve his conditioning a bit, but that's nitpicking for the All-Big Ten defender.

Rodrique Wright, Sr., Texas
Wright could be a top 15 pick in next year's NFL draft and likely would've gone in the first round had he decided to leave early this year. Hurt by a lingering ankle problem, the 305-pound senior had his least productive season after cranking out 65 tackles as a freshman and 80 stops and 30 quarterback pressures in 2003. He'll be on most preseason All-America lists now that he's back to 100%.

2005 CFN Preseason First-Team All-Americans
Ohio%20State%20-%20A.J.%20HawkSMALL.gif
A.J. Hawk, Sr., Ohio State
Hawk likely would've been a first round draft pick had he left school a year early. A tackling machine with 273 career stops with 24.5 tackles for loss and six interceptions, the 238-pound Hawk ripped off a 4.46 40-yard dash time proving that he doesn't just look fast when chasing down ball-carriers. In a good year for college football linebackers, Hawk will be at the head of the class with his tremendous instincts, production and toughness.

2005 CFN All-America Watch List
in alphabetical order

- Bobby Carpenter, Sr., Ohio State
- Aaron Harris, Sr., Texas
- LaMarr Woodley, Jr., Michigan (DE)

If there's anyone in the Columbus area that would like to meet up and discuss some of the particulars and have a few drinks at the same time... Myself, gost8, and Scooter will be meeting up at the Nike Sports Lounge this Friday at around 6:30pm. If you are interested just let one of us know so we can save a seat for you.

SIMV, I would, but I see how low your vcash is, and I don't wanna have to buy your beer. Maybe you should have bet on my team in the golf outing? On second thought, I guess you're such a lightweight that it wouldn't be too expensive....Damn, that's too in a row. I guess it's been a while since I've given you a hard way to go...

Actually I did bet on your team for the golf outing but I only had 25 vCash to bet. Plus I just placed $150 vCash on the "who will start the Texas game" vBet... so how about you shut your damn hole! Oh yeah... you're the pussy that barely drank at the golf outing. I was buying 4 at a time and was waiting for the beer girl to get back around each time because I was empty.

Lake Erie might have something to do with the difference, I don't know how much this effects the Columbus area, but it sure screws with NE Ohio. Lake affect snow and that kinda thing, I imagine it dumps a lot of moisture in the air during the summer too.

maybe i am confused by this, but rod wright isn't an edge rusher.
my bad, I did imply that. I meant that while I think Texas' DL might be a little better with their two stud DTs, Woodley is a better DE (in addition to DT Watson) than what texas will be bringing.

probably a useful post for some of you that I made in the texas score prediction thread:

So is smith in the clear 100% now? whats this "Tressel promising to punish him" stuff?
After all of the ESPN articles, most casual CFB fans are sure that Tressel's a pushover. He does let them earn their way back after major violations at times (which was repeated over and over on ESPN to suggest corruption), but ironically he's quite a stickler for small things. Players miss series or games b/c they were late to practices or skipped classes. Missing class is probably the worst thing Troy could have done.

If you plan on checking on this site fairly often, go to user CP (along the top), group memberships (along the left), and click on join group for Millers.

That will allow you to view and post in our rumor mill section. It's somewhere that we discuss rumors that are unsubstantiated, but certain topics like suspended players, Boeckman to start Texas game (based on former player's word), etc.

To give a synopsis, many of us expect Troy to not start against Texas, but still be our #1 guy down the road unless Boeckman looks like Leinart in each game.

Boeckman also has been the QB with the scout team for much of last year (since Zwick was hurt from Iowa on), and apparently he made the first team defense look silly at times. He can get out of the pocket well, but is a true pocket passer.

He is listed as a RS freshman, but he grayshirted in 2003 (means you practice in the summer before the season, skip the fall practices, and rejoin the team practices early in the winter), and then redshirted in 2004. He is quite experienced mentally (tho he has not seen the field very much). He looked pretty solid in the spring game, when our other two QBs looked pretty average.

Moreover, you can count on gameplanning for two QBs. Many of us think Troy could miss the first series, and are unsure how many he'll miss after that. Boeckman is an excellent pocket passer who will not tuck and run too early like a typical dual-threat QB will.

Then there's Teddy Ginn, who played QB in HS and could mix things up. Plus MililianiBuckeye would lose a vBet and not post on this site for quite a while.

Sweet action. Hopefully we'll get a number of HornFans to stop by, plus you'll probably gain a beer or food just for doing so. Hopefully the other texans won't figure it out and start lining up at our tailgate :)

 Only four at a time? Please, I was buying six at a time...every tee. Because the beer bitch loved me and wanted to have my children. Ok, that may not be entirely true, but...we'll go with it.

Besides, PUSSY, I had to drive. And I still outdrank you.
