Well, I certainly don't want people to die, but we have become overly sensitive to protecting ourselves from...living. The "value of a human life" mentality is overly influencing everything these days--and we have our wonderful lawduit mentality to thank for it.

Yes, Vince was punished more that night than any other game of the season. But he did handle it well. In fact, if I remember correctly, I think Vince throw the game-winning pass to Sweed a couple of plays after the time out mentioned above.

I'm a big HD buff and can say for a fact that this year's game will DEFINITELY be in HD. Hard to believe, but ABC did not expect the ratings that last year's game received (it was rated higher than one of the BCS bowls if I remember correctly). They knew it would get good ratings but not as high as what happened. So they admitted that they screwed up and would rectify the game this year.

HD is considerably more expensive to produce so that's why only a select few games are broadcast in HD on broadcast television. ABC will only do it for select games that are broadcast nationwide and are expected to reach a wide audience (UM-FSU, UT-OSU, conference championship games, and BCS bowls). ESPN does it all the time because they get subscriber fees in addition to advertising dollars that ABC typically gets.

I for one don't buy that argument from ABC. They get more money than ESPN for their advertising. ABC have had several years now to increase their capacity to broadcast HD-Live events. ESPN has EVERYTHING available NOW in HD in parallel broadcast of ESPN and ESPN-2, and they have fewer financial resources overall than ABC. They are simply leveraging those resources much more aggresively.
I would be highly surprised if ABC's take from a typical college game is less than that pulled in by ESPN game-for-game.
The need for dual signals (which I have heard others use as an excuse) doesn't cut it with me as an alternatve form of argument. As Letterman put it, right after HD was in it's second full season, "I know the networks have the equipment, why isn't everything available in HD?"

I agree with you regarding the fact that I see no reason whatsoever why ABC can't broadcast all nationally televised games in HD. It's the smaller regional games that only go to a third of the country where I could see why it would be difficult for ABC to do in HD. Or better put, yeah ABC could make a profit doing the regional games in HD, but they'll definitely make MORE profit doing those games in SD.

As far as the ESPN games in HD, keep in mind that ALL of ESPN games are broadcast nationally and they don't do the regional split coverage that ABC does.

It's currently 85 degrees in Columbus at 5:00 pm.

First, I don't think the temperature by itself is an issue. But depth is a bigger issue in high temperatures.

That said, it was 104 in my Austin Neighborhood at 6:00 yesterday, and only 100 at 6:00 today. The forcast looks like it will be around 100 for the next week. If we don't get a major storm front through it will still be near 100 on the 9th before sunset.

Everybody who comes down should be careful if you are tailgating outdoors and are not acclimated to it, or if you're drinking alcohol and making the dehydrated worse. The heat index could be near 120 in the afternoon.

First of all "The Program" wasn't about tOSU but beyond that....

the guy who was on steriods, I don't remember his name (same guy that was in Hudson Hawk), and the other guy who was also in "A river runs through it" (Mizula Montana) would RUTS (that would be Run Up The Score) Billybob any day. The only thing he has going for him is that he has had sex with Angelina, unfortunatly that doesn't make up the difference.
