I disagree with athose of you who think players shouldn't practice and play under harsh circumstances. Up until the last few years, before our society turned so soft, people spent all day outside, had no air conditioning, and did just fine. A few people die, and yes, that's sad, but a few people die doing EVERYTHING. My 11 yr. old DAUGHTER recently played a softball tournament in Castroville, Texas, in 100 plus temps. Deal with it, America, and QUIT BEING SO SOFT.

if they are acclimated to the climate that is one thing... take someone that has practiced in a bubble all along and stick them in hot/humid circumstances you'd better hope you have some smart cookies on the sidelines keeping them more than hydrated...

The Extreme Temp columns will give you a better idea...September in Austin on average has 18 days above 90. Two years ago, we went 40+ days straight over 100 spanning July, August and September (we're working on a pretty good streak this month)

Last year's night game at The Shoe was 76 degrees at kickoff. I seriously doubt that Austin will be very much hotter at kickoff. It's currently 85 degrees in Columbus at 5:00 pm. I think our boys are pretty much acclimated to the heat they'll face the evening of the 9th...

Why must people die when you can prevent it? If all preventive measures have been taken and people still die, then it is sad. Do you wear a seat belt in the car? Do you drive with the A/C on or with the windows down? Is the value of life not worth more than the pride of an individual claiming that he isn't "soft"?

I happen to agree with this, but but I also see fanatic's point. If you ask me, both are beside the point in this argument though. The point is, if you dont do absolutely everything you can and someone dies they're going to sue you're ass off.
