I believe most coaches practice in these conditions only to protect the players. A lot of us haven't forgotten the mishap of a recent Viking named Korey Stringer. I would rather lose a game due not being fit by practicing in the bubble, than have a player collapse on the field. Those "sissy, water misting devices" are crucial to keeping the players at the right temperature, preventing dehydration and more importantly heat stroke. Please keep the safety of the players in mind before making conclusive statements like "Texas should practice outside."
I disagree with athose of you who think players shouldn't practice and play under harsh circumstances. Up until the last few years, before our society turned so soft, people spent all day outside, had no air conditioning, and did just fine. A few people die, and yes, that's sad, but a few people die doing EVERYTHING. My 11 yr. old DAUGHTER recently played a softball tournament in Castroville, Texas, in 100 plus temps. Deal with it, America, and QUIT BEING SO SOFT.

Nearly the same level of humidity, but nearly a twenty degree difference in temperature in September. Also, average temperature is somewhat misleading--yeah, it gets down to 78 degrees in September in Austin...at 4:00 a.m. Come gametime, expect it to be a tad warmer.

Why must people die when you can prevent it? If all preventive measures have been taken and people still die, then it is sad. Do you wear a seat belt in the car? Do you drive with the A/C on or with the windows down? Is the value of life not worth more than the pride of an individual claiming that he isn't "soft"?
just saw that the texags general board has discovered the planet...this should be interesting
Well I thought you said Thornton would beat up Caan. Let's see if I remember some of their off-screen highlights:
Caan:
Born in the Bronx
Nicknames "Killer Caan" & "Shoulders"
Played football for Michigan State
Spent 9 years on the Pro Rodeo Circuit
Has a Black Belt in Karate
Kicked a 20 year addiction to cocain
and for a time lived at the Playboy Mansion (Angela who?)
Thornton:
Grew up a musician (drummer)
Liked milkshakes
Hospitalized for a heart condition due to malnutrition
