Game Thread Game Two: #1 Ohio State 24, #2 Texas 7 (9/9/06)

Since you couldn't win at home with +2 turnovers, I just figure you need to be +3 to have a chance in Austin, especially with the new defense.

Yes 12-17 over 14 games. I also fail to find any logic in someone whose team came up with 6 interceptions all year last year, yet they think they will get 3 in one game with a brand new secondary.
yeah, having new, unexperienced players at a position is going to hurt us.

just not you.

once again your obsession with statistics from one year is hilarious. In 04, OSU intercepted 15 passes (all by players who returned in 05)... on a brand new defense with limited DL pressure most of the year. The years before that? 15, 18, 20 ints.

You don't understand. Experience is now all that matters when it comes to producing. Unless you're on Texas.

You can count on it.

I can assure you that if Texas is throwing the ball that many times they are losing the game. No way on earth does a seasoned coaching staff ask a kid with 1 start under his belt to win a game of the magnatude of this one. If you really believe that a rookie quarterback is going to be asked to put the ball up 30 or more times then you are dillusional.... but then, most of your posts fit under that catagory.

I would all but bet my house that won't come close to happening.
That is exactly my worries for this game, as stated, I think Texas has to put up much, much better numbers from their RBs as I think there will be a dropoff in passing productivity this year in that game.

On another point, not just for this UT game but in general, what area of tOSU's defense worries you all the most next year?

Texas peeps. Do they check ID's for student tickets? I have one located for the game. Thanks
I have never tried it myself, but used to let other people use my ID all the time to get into games. The ticket takers aren't protecting fort knox, they aren't making a ton of money, pick the right gate, with the right ticket taker, and I don't think you will have any problems.

Sounds like student tickets at Ohio State. They don't really care if the ID matches, just as long as you have one. Also chosing a gate thats swamped with people would pretty much force them to take a cursory glance at it.

As far as our defenses biggest weakness? Probably our corners in pass coverage. There is no doubt the "new" guys have tons of speed and can hit, but can they stick with your WR's and not get burned...thats the question. Pretty much anything that would make it easier on your QB's to pass would be a problem. However, the newly restocked d-line looks to be a much better pass rushing unit than last year, so that can only help.

No facet of our defense is a "worry" to me, but I think our secondary would concern me the most, especially whomever is playing opposite of Jenkins at corner. I think our DL may even end up better than last year's when all is said and done, and our LBs will shock a lot of folks (people will be expecting a huge dropoff with the departures of Hawk, Carpenter, and Schlegel, and that dropoff will be nowhere near that).

If our secondary (faster than last year's, per our staff) locks it down, then our defense has the potential to rival or equal last year's.
