Game Thread Game Two: #1 Ohio State 24, #2 Texas 7 (9/9/06)

Since you couldn't win at home with +2 turnovers, I just figure you need to be +3 to have a chance in Austin, especially with the new defense.

Yes 12-17 over 14 games. I also fail to find any logic in someone whose team came up with 6 interceptions all year last year, yet they think they will get 3 in one game with a brand new secondary.

Alright dude, I know you love to say that, but couldn't??? or didn't? I'd say we didn't win, not we couldn't win. Lucky that Vince pulled through on that late TD pass, and lucky a lot of other things went Texas' way (I don't think we need to get into those things, they've been discussed before). Also, I don't usually put TO margin at the very top of the list in predicting wins on paper.

Going back to the experience of our defense vs. your quarterbacks: the reason our returning players don't have a huge tackle number can be attributed to the loss of our 3 LB's. They ate up a ton of tackles, so with not many LB's that played substantial minutes behind them, we're not going to have a huge number of tackles returning. That doesn't mean our DL and DB's coming back don't have some beneficial time under their belt, it just means they didn't gather the number of tackles a LB would have, especially in our defensive scheme.

Wow, I missed these gems while replying to texasfight06. The only reasons why we didn't take care of business last year without the TO advantage was because we had a rusty Troy Smith in there and Hamby's drop. I think if the TOs are even in Austin our chances are still very good.

If you think that your freshman QBs will throw only 12 INT--combined--over the entire season (hell even 17 INTs), then you are really toking the bong hard...

I knew there was a reason I loved you, Miliani.

Sorry I don't smoke, but I do trust that coach Davis will have them prepared and that they will perform in typical Texas fashion. Since 1998 Texas QBs have given up the following annual INT totals, 12, 10, 14 (Simms urgh), 12, 12, 9, 11, & 11. I actually think they will fall in the normal range, but threw out 17 to tease you. There is no need to crush your hopes completely.

In wonder, in how many of those seasons did Texas throw the ball a lot and how many did they start--and finish--the season with a freshman QB with absolutely no previous game experience?

I forgot the same teams were playing next year :roll2: Sorry, but stats don't tell the whole story. Crucial mistakes like Hamby's drop (which was an easy TD), sliding the FG outside, gonzo's drop on third down, thomas' couple of drops, or Texas' lucky FG bounce off the post... there are many point swings that don't fit into your neat little calculator. There are lucky bounces that went OSU's way that I did not list.

tOSU fans making the trip to Austin-

Something for you to enjoy at the game: the world's largest hi-def video screen. Should be done in July, well in time for kickoff. Being the time that it is, its about all the football related stuff we have to get excited about! Sneaking in at night w/ a PS2 would be something else.....(someone might notice perhaps).

Until that Japanese horsetrack puts theirs up later in the year. I'm starting a new campaign!...everything is bigger in Japan. Just not the people.

Should be a neat board though.

When the Texas offense gets in the no huddle, an inexperienced defense will find their heads spinning.

Kind of funny that you think our defense won't be able to handle the no huddle due to lack of experience, yet you assume that UT's QB (whoever it ends up being) with one game of experience under his belt will have absolutely no problem running the no huddle.
