Game Thread Game Two: #1 Ohio State 24, #2 Texas 7 (9/9/06)

So the excessive amount of weed he had wasn't a factor?

Ramonce Taylor got cut because he was one of the worst running backs on the Texas roster. Charles is the fastest player in the country at running back and will be a huge Heisman candidate. Young looks like hes running a 4.3 like he did before his injury last year, and is a future top-5 NFL pick. Melton is the most athletic big man in the world.

Taylor was just taking up space...

no freaking way... everyone knows that the backups at Texas are better than the starters... and we heard all last year from Xray that Taylor was even better than Reggie Bush... :p

Ramonce Taylor was not on the team during the time of his arrest because he was academically ineligible. We had all but given up on him when he got in trouble. However, there was still a chance of him returning. The weed deal was the last straw.

I suppose Texas is marijuana U, along with the other 118 D1 universities. I think 247's wall just shattered.

Yeah I knew he had academic issues, I was just making sure I wasn't misinformed from before. The weed charge was the "nail in the coffin" so to speak.

Most every 1-A team has had some issues with players and marijuana.

Let's avoid taking cheap 'pot' shots at the Longhorns.

I agree, guys......let's talk football, we as OSU fans don't have much room to talk when it comes to embarassing off the field problems over the past few years. We can debate the significance of the potential suspension, but lets not use it as an opportunity to bash the Texas football program.

That's why Tejas will have no problem replacing Tarell Brown!:wink2:

I doubt it. I know that you were kind of being tongue in cheek there, but Brown has played in a lot of big games in the past, and performed very well. You cannot simply reload, we're finding that out early on with our LB replacements. His replacement is very fast, but also very short. Plus, 40 speed doesn't equal game speed.......especially when you are trying to remember your assignment. The potential is there, but you can't put a value on experience.

Senior cornerback Tarell Brown faces misdemeanor weapons and drug charges in Travis County, Texas, according to a media report.

The newspaper reported that Brown and former Longhorns teammate Aaron Harris, who played on last year's national championship team, were booked at Travis County Central Booking Facility on Monday morning.
Brown was charged with unlawfully carrying a weapon, a Class A misdemeanor in Texas, and both Brown and Harris were charged with possession of 2 ounces or less of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, the newspaper reported.

Brown was released from Travis County Jail on personal bond on Monday, the newspaper reported.

The newspaper said according to a team official, Texas coach Mack Brown was aware of the situation but had not yet spoken to Brown. If Brown starts against No. 1 Ohio State on Saturday, he is expected to draw the assignment of covering wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr., a Heisman Trophy hopeful.
