Game Thread Game Two: #1 Ohio State 24, #2 Texas 7 (9/9/06)

You talk about smith turning every broken play into a first down. But did you ever notice both him and ginn were no shows against every defense they faced ranked 36th or better. Michigan only 25 points texas only 22 and penn state 10. And before you bring up notre dame remember the mighty stanford cardinals put up only 3 less points on them than you guys did and notre dame was ranked 75th overall in total defense.

You guys weren't all that great against us either.

You bring up we "only" scored 25 against scUM. We also had 418 total yards in a rivalry game. You always throw out the record books for The Game.

And wasnt your pass defense only ranked 43rd overall in the country? Thats far from killing.

You can't really be this dumb, can you? Our pass defense numbers were so low because everyone we beat had to play catch-up by throwing the ball. In our wins, we beat opponents by an average of about 20 points.

All for a stunning 25 points.
your argument was that troy did nothing against UM... which is laughable at best. Do you often go and talk smack about games you know nothing about? It's pretty clear you didn't watch it... yet you are posting like an expert on how troy sucked it up that day.
Im sticking with nothing both points and yardage matter im merely pointing out what tosu did against quality defenses.
no, you're waffling back and forth as it fits your argument. Smith was a 'no show' despite having a far better game than Quinn, who supposedly did well according to you.

Tosu's defense was great last year im not denying that add that with the shoe and it's tough for any offense especially in the 2nd game of the year.

Ok that was a rivalry game ill give you that. Now tell me what tosu did against penn state and texas offensively both top 15 defenses.

Penn St.: Nothing but there were very poor weather conditions that have to be taken into consideration. It was too wet to do much passing so both offenses became one-dimensional.

Texas: We got inside your redzone about 4 times and crossed the 50 atleast 5 times even while playing our 2nd string quarterback for half the game.

tell me what vince did against ou in 04. players NEVER improve, right? Especially not players who spent all of their camps as the #2 or #4 qb (including being held out of large portions of the 05 preseason).

We've gone through this argument before. If you think that the same thing will happen as last year regarding our O vs. your D simply b/c it happened last year, notwithstanding the facts that Troy didn't play a game for like 9 months, we were ridiculously ineffective using the QB carousel, and you lost several key players on your defense, then you are clueless when it comes to football. Using your logic, every team not named UT might as well not even play this year; indeed, since UT won it all last year, they'll automatically win it all this year. My friend, you're in for a disappointing fall...

Didnt Brady quinn go 29 for 45 for 286 yards and no int's? And wasnt your pass defense only ranked 43rd overall in the country? Thats far from killing. By the way Phillip Rivers have 315 yards and 4 td's against a much better 2003 buckeye defense than they will have this year?

Holding Quinn to 286 yards and no TD's is a pretty big feat, especially on 45 attempts. Quinn was sacked 5 times and had negative 32 rush yards.

Rivers had a decent game but also had THREE overtimes to pad his stats. In regulation he had 265 yards on 40+ attempts, 3 TD's, 2 INT's. He was sacked 4 times and had negative 49 rush yards.

Once again for a astronomical 22 points do the words "ohio state will have to settle for 3 again" ring a bell?
