Game Thread Game Two: #1 Ohio State 24, #2 Texas 7 (9/9/06)

back to the subject at hand. i think that some UT fans are overlooking the fact that VY isn't the only guy they are replacing. they also lost five other All Americans.

At OT we had an All-American last year, Scott, we have one this year Blalock, we will have one next year Hills, and Ulatoski will be AA after that.

At DT we had one last year, Wright, we have one this year Okam, and Roy Miller will be AA after that.

At DE Crowder will likely be AA, but Robison is better. Orakpo will be AA after that. Orakpo was a freshman AA.

At Safety we had an AA last year Huff, and we have one this year Michael Griffin. Last year we had a first year starter at safety Mi Griffin, this year we have a first year starter at safety Marcus Griffin. By the way Marcus was the better of the two in highschool at DB.

At Corner we had one in Cedric Griffin, and this year we will have one or two Brown and Ross.

At LB we had a freshman All-American last year Bobino, and we should have one again this year, Kindle.

At TE we had one last year Thomas , and will have a freshman AA this year, Finley.

We had a Heisman trophy finalist last year, Vince and we will have one this year, and the next, Jamaal.

That's an awful lot of assumptions for future All-Americans. I found E-Horn's summary on the previous page to be much more reasonable.

Crazy thing is that he really isn't going out on a limb on any of those, except maybe when he says that Robinson is better than crowder. I don't know if that is fair. robinson is responsible for more highlights but he is on the weak side and that is his job. Crowder is a stud against the run and the pass

oh and the part about marcus being better at DB in highschool is slightly misleading since Mike was the stud tail back at the school and if I remember correctly didn't play DB near as often

The assumptions for Ulatoski, Miller, and Finley; in conjunction with all of the other ones (most of which may be probable), put it over the top for me.

It's the wording, also. The statements are these guys "will be" All American, not "may become", or "if they progress as expected".

I can completely understand that, and I wouldn't ask you to agree with it all. However after watching these kids I personally don't think he is that far off. Ulatoski and Finley have a ways to go, but at least in millers case there is some reason to believe that he will be at that level. Two big reasons are UT's recent history of developing d-linemen and the fact that he was contributor in the NC game making several big plays

hilarious xray... I didn't realized there was no talent, freshman or otherwise, at any other schools.

I don't think I've ever read more homeristic posts anywhere on the internet... and I'lve spent time on ND boards.

.

if all we have to do is say they will be AA then heck im saying that all of our starters will be. Heck , and so will our backups and maybe even the walk ons.
The point being texas did not recruit all the AA's. It might be better if you waited till after the season to find out who your 's will be. We wait to see who earns it from tOSU rather than guess before they have even played a down.

:oh: :io:

I don't know who's scarier looking Vern Gholston or Robert Rose?
For what it's worth.
V. G. gets my vote for scariest looking Buckeye!
But Rose isn't far behind!
And our best DE is supposed to be....Wilson?
The potential of these guys is just scary.
