Game Thread Game Two: #1 Ohio State 24, #2 Texas 7 (9/9/06)

I don't how we all missed it, but this game's already been played.
tOSU won 28-19. Here's the link: :wink2:

We've got a backfield with Pittman, Wells, and Wells, plus a pretty good scrambler in Troy, two returning FBs with experience, and what may be the biggest, best O-Line since Eddie was running behind Orlando Pace.

And we score a one-yard TD by throwing a fade to Ginn? :slappy:

If JT ever actually called that play, he'd get an A+ for creativity.

First, Krenzel owes me money for by heart transplant courtesy of that play. Then you can kick him in the pants.

Transcript of what went on in my mind:
"AAAAAH KRENZEL WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?!"
(Holy Buckeye occurs somewhere here)
"Why does my chest hurt?"

im trying to figure out how much texas will have to score to win. Lets see we have everything we could ever want on offense so if we score hmmm every two minutes and then they have the ball two minutes b4 every punt then we can score lets see 60 divided by two, carry the eight times 6 plus 1 each time WOW can texas score that much???????. In texas do the girls all just kiss girls??:oh: :io:

I do have a serious football question and I'm too lazy to que up one of your games from last year. Do your defensive tackles switch sides based on the strength of the offensive alignment? And, is there a preference over which DT is over center?

The reason I ask is because 1 of the two spots on UTs offense where there will be a drop off from last year is left guard. If Pitcock is in a 3 technique against Dockery most of the night that could create some problems. I'm not worried too much about him getting upfield, since he isn't known for that, but he could disrupt the blocking scheme.

There are reports that the coaches are still seriously looking into playing Sendlein (Griffin at Center) and or Blalock (Ulatoski at Tackle) at that spot. That may be a good plan against tOSU in order to put strength on strength. I like the Seindlein option better since Dallas Griffin is experienced and there won't be much drop-off at center. Ulatoski is very talented, but a RSFr. He may do OK against your younger DEs or he may not.

This could be one of the more interesting matchups in the game, and unfortunately it will be overlooked by most casual fans.

Penton, Patterson and Pitcock are exclusively DTs, and all three are three-time varsity lettermen. I don't know that the rotation favored any specific player on a given side in 2005, as the line could routinely switch between the 4-3 and 3-4, though much of that flexibility was attributable to Bobby Carpenter, who could line up as a DE in the 3-4, similar to the way Vrabel is used with the Patriots.

Pitcock is the #1 option at DT though regardless of scheme, and demands double teams. He doesn't have the eye-popping tackle or TFL stats, but I don't know that anybody at the DT position has ever had gaudy numbers with the defenses that OSU has had under Tressel; making the tackles hasn't been their job, per se.

The 4-3/3-4 option should still be in play in 2006 with Marcus Freeman taking over Carp's role at SLB.

Pitcock will be a senior captain and is currently on Mel Kiper Jrs "Big Board" as a Top-15 pick. He's strong like bull.

let me paraphrase randy's post...

since I have been called out on the idiocy of my IAA record against inferior coaches comment, I will spout off some x's and o's in an attempt to make it look like I know what I am talking about.
