Someone on Hornfans has aked why tOSU has been so bad on the road (12-6) over the past 4 years. I thought one of you supply an answer.

It's all in perspective I guess. FWIW, some of this Horn fan's numbers are off. Anyway, why 4 years? Why not Tressel's full 5 years? Further, why not compare it to Mack Brown's first 5 years? That would seem to give a good comparison to programs in similar situations ... new coaching staffs ... etc.
Here's Mack Brown's first 5 years:
Year........Record...Road.....VS Ranked on Road
1998.......9-3........1-3........1-2
1999.......9-5........4-1........0-1
2000.......9-3........3-1........none
2001.......11-2.......5-0.......none
2002.......11-2.......4-1.......1-0
Totals......49-15.....17-6......2-3
%............(.766).....(.739)...(.400)
Brown has played almost 36% of his (64) games on the road and less than 8% of his games are on the road vs a ranked opponent.
Here's Jim Tressel's first 5 years:
Year........Record...Road.....VS Ranked on Road
2001.......7-5.........3-2........1-1
2002.......14-0.......5-0........none
2003.......11-2.......2-2........0-2
2004.......8-4..........2-3.......none
2005.......10-2........3-1.......2-1
Totals......50-13.....15-8......3-4
%............(.794)....(.652)....(.429)
Tressel has played almost 37% of his (63) games on the road and more than 11% of his games are on the road vs a ranked opponent.
Hummm, not much difference that I see. Mack is a bit better in road games overall. Tressel has more of them on the schedule and does better against ranked opponents on the road. I suppose conference strength could be a factor as well, but that argument is so full of subjective variables that I don't put much stock in it's worth.
PS - Xray, you are very close to your first warning for trolling and baiting. They also seem to accumulate quicker once you pop your cherry. Fair warning.
