Game Thread Game Ten: Ohio State 38, Wisconsin 17 (final)

Wisconsin struggles against UNLV and The Citadel(!), barely beats Iowa and Michigan State, loses to Illinois and gets crushed by Penn State, but wins convincingly against Northern Illinois(!) and Indiana and somehow they are the team everyone expected them to be this year (aka top 10)? The way the media works is pretty fucked up sometimes, but whatever, I can appreciate trying to build interest in this game.

I think it will turn out like this:

Our defense is going to spend all week practicing against the run after a less than stellar performance against Penn State and I think they will come out fired up and shut down Wisconsin's run game. Wisconsin will probably hit a few key passes to Beckum and might even get a few solid runs and score a few times before we make adjustments and shut down their offense completely. We will be putting heavy pressure on Donovan all game and by the end he will be completely uncomfortable in the pocket and will miss his receivers and make mistakes.

Our offensive line will continue to dominate and Beanie will have another 100 yard game. Boeckman has more confidence than ever after such a strong performance against Penn State in a hostile envirnment, and he will continue to not just be a role player in a ball control offense, but a potential Heisman candidate.

The crowd and the entire team will be fired up, everyone knows about Wisconsin's recent success in The Shoe (especially Tressel and I'm sure he has ways of reminding the team about it).

If the team and the crowd are fired up (and there are plenty of reasons why they should be) I think we roll in this one.

Why not? That's what the Florida St fans do.

I'd have no problem supporting her either.

whatever happened to John Clay...did he not make grades or something because he was all set to be the next great back at wiscy...

Per Bernini on 9/7/07

He's the #3 back on the road so probably 5 meaningful carries (give or take a few) and then garbage time if necessary.

PJ Hill and Lance Smith are top 2 at home. Brown is still #3 for now. Clay might be co #3 with Brown and share an occasional bone or two. Otherwise it's mostly garbage time when the Badgers annihilate teams. So he'll get plenty of action.

As I said though, he started late, so he could surpass a couple players as he catches up. He's a tremendous talent so it all is dependent upon his intensity and willingness to learn. Also I should note though, that he's a little heavier than the coaches would like. I've seen a recent picture and it wasn't the best angle, but he appeared to be high 230's or so. He had his record breaking year at Racine park when he shedded 12 pounds down the 220. I'd personally think that low 220's would be optimum. He would still maintain most of his power while regaining his shiftiness. He looked like a very straight ahead runner in the All American game, and I think that was a product of his size and the unhealthy state of his ankle.

Maybe if you PM'd Bernini, he might know some more recent info.

Wisconsin is excited about a freshman named Kyle Jefferson out of Cleveland that I watched in the BIG 33 game from Hershey Pa, and he went wild and caught everything in site and I wondered if he was going to make an impact for Whisky and shure enough he has. Lets keep an eye on this kid, he may be trouble for Ohio State if we don't pay attention. He has caught 2 TD's in the past two games for Whisky. Now he is coming to the "Shoe" and possibly un-noticed. He is very thin and wirey and i worry about this kid. Hope the "Bucks" are paying attention to him.
Possibly un-noticed? You're joking right?

Great post. I couldn't agree more. :oh:
