Game Thread Game One: Ohio State 38, Youngstown St. 6 (final)

Oh don't be such a worry wart. We will be fine. Washington will be lucky if they can score on us at all.
The only reason I am cautious at all is that we are breaking in a new offense with a new QB on the road for his first road game. It's against a Pac-10 team that we should beat but in the past we don't always take care of business when we play Pac-10 teams. I agree though, it is a game that we should win and I expect us to win.

How 'bout those Penguins? :roll1:
No crap... how about some actual discussion about the YSU the TEAM, not about them being DI-AA?

I would argue that playing weak schedule has everything to do with the BCS picture because SOS has everything to do with where the 'people polls' rank the teams. The fact that SOS isn't officially part of the BCS formula doesnt mean SOS isnt very important where teams are ranked.....hence....where teams fit into the BCS picture.

That's why when you see an undefeated team with a weaker schedule more than half way through the season barely cracking the top15-20 in the rankings, and when they lose their first game......they take a beating in the polls. IE... a few Pac10 teams and BigEast teams come immediately in mind.

That's why you'll continue see 11-1 teams stepped over for BCS games by the 10-2 Ohio States of college football:osu:

That doesnt mean anything to me. Mount Union is ranked pretty good. Maybe tOSU should schedule them too?

All those examples are from an 11 game schedule. That's not the case anymore. The rules have changed. Everyone just needs to calm down. We win our games, we will be where we want to be, YSU or not...

SOS has everything to do with the polls:wink2: How many games is irrelevant. That's why you'll continue to see BigEast teams getting no repsect in the polls. If UConn goes out and wins their first 8 games, how high do you think they'll get in the polls? Will they even crack the top20?

Everyone in the country will be playing these games now. Noone is scheduling another huge OOC game because of the 12th game added. Your fears are unfounded and time will prove this...I don't know how many times this has to be said, but this game will have no effect on us in either the computers or with the human polls. Our YSU equals LSU's LA-Laffayette, Florida's Citadel, etc, etc...It is a non-factor...

:roll2: Apples to oranges... you are talking about two highly different tiers of football in your "suggestion" (yes, I know it wasn't an actual suggestion). YSU would hold their own in ALL non-BCS conferences. Besides, the point of posting the pre-conference predictions was to show that YSU will be in contention for their conference title and most likely in contention to make the playoffs.

Because of that, SOS will always have a powerful indirect effect on the BCS.

No, winning has everything to do with the polls. Florida won the national title last year despite playing frickin' Western Carolina, in November. Our playing YSU will have absolutely zero effect on where we're ranked at the end of the year.

Plus if we end the year with wins over Penn State, Wisconsin, and Michigan all within four weeks I doubt many people will remember who we played the first eight weeks of the year. Like others have said, let's just win one game at a time and not worry about rankings.

Because somebody else plays cupcakes, so OSU should stoop too?

Playing against the Mountain West, CUSA, MAC, etc, should be as low as tOSU stoops to fill their OOC schedule.

Stooping?

This used to be a bye week. How is playing a game against somebody, anybody, worse than not playing at all? :smash:

Take a fucking chill pill for a year and in the upcoming years we will "stoop" to play Soutern Cal, Miami (Fl.), Cal, Va. Tech, and Oklahoma. Just relax.
