Game Thread Game One: Ohio State 38, Youngstown St. 6 (final)

I know a few other big programs play 1-AA schools (Texas, KSU, VT, etc, etc,), but do we really want to be like them?

Apparently you haven't read the YSU game thread yet, so let me synopsize it for you:

1. The recently approved 12th game allows teams to play I-AA teams without "penalty".
2. We had an open date and wanted to fill it fairly quickly, preferably with an in-state team.
3. YSU is not "just a I-AA team", but a perennial I-AA powerhouse with a winning record all-time against MAC teams (those same MAC teams we play virtually every year).
4. The Tressel connection with YSU.

I may be new, but I am aware of what's behind the YSU scheduling. I have read enough of the YSU Game Thread to realize I have recreated the same discussion here in my thread. It appears I'm just digging up old re-hashed discussion.

For that, I apologize...

Let's just leave it at that.

Go Bucks, beat YSU:osu:

Good decision. This is not an argument you are going to win.

Agreed, but it shouldn't even have become an argument. Some of us think that scheduling YSU is cool and others of us think it is weak. Different strokes for different folks but it doesn't make anyone right in the matter. WELCOME TO BP BUCKS_DOMINATE!

This discussion isn't about winning or losing.... it's about a difference of opinion.

Either way, I respect the opinion of those who think playing a school as small as YSU is good thing for Buckeye football. I disagree, but there is no right or wrong (winner or loser) in this discussion. I understand the JT and Ohio connections with YSU, but I think that's besides the point.

Let's drop the YSU portion of my thread because this has apparently already been rehashed many times on the YSU game thread. I didn't intend to dig up a such a controversial topic with my first post:!.

Let's move on to.... "Hi welcome to the forum" discussion.

If I may comment on the scheduling of YSU. It is great that we are playing them. I know why we are playing them and have read through all of the reasons...But I think the tone would change if something strange happened and we lose any of the 3 future games scheduled.

A loss to Youngstown State would end up costing tOSU millions of dollars and that is what it all comes down to.

Remeber Buster Douglas. Not saying that we are in any way like Mike Tyson but an upset is always possible.
