to be fair to the writers, benioff and weiss intended to adapt grrm's story, not create it. we also don't know how much of grrm's notes are dictating the current storyline. winds of winter was expected to be released as early as 2015, yet here we are.Show is still amazing but my god the people writing this show have sucked dick (I like that) all season. The plot holes and how they drag certain things on for 2 seasons only to rush really really REALLY important parts is mind boggling.

i think the night king has his reasons. i also think a nk-bran storyline is emerging.I liked the fact that that he threw and hit the dragon that was:
1) a moving target and
2) a country mile away
when Dany and the rest of the living were sitting on a stationary dragon that was whole lot closer and immensely easier to hit
I realize they don't have infinity time like GRRM does in the books, and so there's some stuff that you're just going to have to accelerate... but they sure have wasted an awful lot of time this season on filler material and then seemingly rushed through the really important stuff.
Just continues to feel like they're saying "here's an outcome, how do we get there? Um... idk, we don't have anything written for us we can adapt so we'll just wing it."
i think it was the hbo president who said that they wanted game of thrones to be at least 10 seasons long, but benioff and weiss wanted to finish it in 8. unfortunately for us fans, the final season may not air until 2019.I think regardless of popularity HBO is tired of dropping 100+ mil on a season of GoT so we get 4 seasons of material packed into a season and a half of shows. They want to get this show wrapped so they can start making spin-offs for a quarter of the cost.
Look no further than them killing off (or outright forgetting, anyone see Ghost lately?) the Stark direwolves for proof of HBOs price consciousness.I think regardless of popularity HBO is tired of dropping 100+ mil on a season of GoT so we get 4 seasons of material packed into a season and a half of shows.
