The dragon return was awful. The speech was worse and cliché.

The episode has some really underrated moments though. Mace Tyrell's attempt to be Mel Gibson in Braveheart had a perfect comedic touch. The High Sparrow is totally outplaying the best players in the Game of Thrones. Arya realizing that she joined a group of paid mercenaries rather than a group of do-good assassins sets up well for her return to Westeros.

Also, the Coldhands reveal (while obvious) was still pretty cool.

I agree with all of this. Also, I am more invested in Sam's story than anything else in the show right now.

That was the dumbest part. My dad hates me but I'm sure he'll be cool watching my fake wife and son who will almost assuredly be proven that I'm not the father. Then when I decide to leave, I'll take the girl and the baby with me.....to a place I just spent a scene explaining to the viewers WILL NOT ALLOW WOMEN. It just seemed like they needed him to get his hands on some Valyrian steel.....so they threw a terrible story together and ran with it.

Meh, I was mad at the story of him becoming a Maester. It made no sense, the war will be over long before he could be of use. I was happy to see him man up. Well kinda man up, nobody would let his girl be spoken to that way if he had one testical.

I read a theory yesterday predicting that Tommen will be the Faith's champion against Cersei's which, as much as I'd like to see Clegane-bowl, would be much more interesting or at least have more interesting consequences.

Not nearly enough descriptions of food in there to be accurate.

It seems like this season has been slowly building to what will hopefully be some solid action and payoff- similar to A Dance with Dragons only Dance (and Crow) were substantially more drawn out and the payoff won't come until the Winds of Winter..

Not a lot has happened thus far (with some BS "surprise" action in Dorne that no one cares about); hopefully that will change in the next three episodes.

Geography continues to not exist in TV GoT in reference to Brienne's ongoing journeys.

no clegane bowl, but also no lady Stoneheart, so I'm willing to call it a wash.

Was it really necessary to spend so much time with Arya this season? She goes on a trip, she becomes a better fighter. Got it; could have covered that in 1/4 the time. The faceless man aspect of it had no payoff whatsoever; and the criteria for becoming "no one" was a joke as written by the show.

If the solution to the siege of Meereen is anything but three dragons wrecking shit than I... will dislike the writing of the show even more than before, I guess.

If the Iron Born swoop in to save the day that is stupid. Dragons are the perfect defense against boats- if that somehow doesn't factor in then WTF.

Spoiler: Misc

I do like the Hound going north along with the brotherhood- I'm on board with anything that helps Jon/the Starks get back Winterfell.

When is Jaime going to find out what a ho Cersei is? Jaime hating Cersei is one of the best parts of the books and makes Jaime more likeable.

They continue to do really stupid stuff with Daenerys. Dragon back speech was dumb; that entrance was crazy stupid.

I'm sad there are only 2 more episodes this season. I don't look forward to any show every week like GoT. HBO could honestly replace everything with GoT spin offs and put out a better product IMO.

I don't think you can have the dragons roast the ships. I think the goal will be to kill everyone without destroying the ships, maybe with the help of the IB. I hate how the dragons do something and then disappear. Might be a little cheesy if they bring Brienne, Arya, Littlefinger, and the Brotherhood/Hound together just in time for a battle with Ramsay. Judging by the episode titles this isn't the case, but it would be funny if Jon marched on Winterfell and Ramsay marched on Castle Black just in time for the white walkers to knock down the wall and take out the whole Bolton army. They might be able to play it off that they are marching on each other and then throw the curveball that Ramsay ends up against the Night King. Either way I don't see him making it passed this episode and the wall through the finale

The origin story, starting with Ned and Robert growing up with Jon Arryn and culminating with the Tower of Joy (or maybe sacking Pyke), would be fantastic, IMO.

Possibly better due to no expectations and very rough guidance from the books.

Action Jack Barker doing his Ned routine from Groundhog Day on the tarmac with Gavin was absolutely hilarious. That it never dawned on either of them to take one private jet together was brilliance. Working in IT for 20 years, SV is speaking my language.

Working in IT for 20 years, SV is speaking my language.

Been meaning to watch SV, just haven't had a chance yet. So many shows to watch and only an hour or two between the kids going to bed and me going to bed. I'll get to it eventually. Have to clean off the DVR before we sell the house and lose everything.
