Game Thread Game Five: Penn State 17, Ohio State 10 (Final)

there are plenty of 'analysts' out there who offer up predictions without watching any gamefilm on either team.

Oh yeah, booyah? like findlay said, here's a lesson in HS recruiting. You should not need to worry about any of our 3 star recruits. Namely Antonio Pittman, Santonio Holmes, AJ Hawk, Malcolm Jenkins, Ashton Youboty, among others.

William's nightmare is about to come true (paterno knew that if any recruits saw how last year's #1 recruit couldn't help PSU in this one, they'd have even less success recruiting in the future)

FYI - I found this "prediction" in USA Today:

No. 6 Ohio State at No. 18 Penn State, 7:45 p.m.

Are the Nittany Lions really back? The win against Minnesota at least puts Joe Paterno's team in the conversation. A win against Ohio State makes them the talk of the Big Ten.

Penn State 17, Ohio State 16

Well, damn.....Im convinced. Guess I wont bother going then. :shake: :roll1:

Well, kinda. We could have put 50 on them, but we didn't. Way too many mistakes. And Iowa wasn't a lesser team to the extent that Penn State is.

Plus I don't live in Iowa and have to put up with stupid Iowa shit. At least when they suck they admit it.

You're kidding, right? Penn State would have beaten Iowa last week just as much as they did Minnesota, if not as bad on the scoreboard. I don't understand why everyone wants to say Penn State sucks so bad...don't you want to give our guys some credit for a victory? If they're that terrible, then beating them would be no big deal, right?

I think it will take 60 minutes of working like hell for them to leave with a win, and they will deserve all the credit in the world when they get it.

Um, ok. Iowa got beat down, but their defense is light years ahead of Minnesota's. PSU can beat Iowa, and by a bunch, but Minny simply has no idea waht defense is. Iowa has no DL, but their back seven actually have tackled a player in the open field.

All I was saying is that Penn State could have beaten Iowa if they played like they did last week. I wasn't talking up Minnesota....in any way.

It just seems like I think the Buckeyes are going to have to work a lot harder to get a win than some do, I guess.

I think people are largely saying "PSU has not proven anything yet" moreso than "PSU sucks"... obviously many on here hate PSU fans and the growl they play 80,000 times a game (too bad nobody remembers they have a band).

I agree with that wholeheartedly...and the point made by someone (it might have been you, I don't remember) about us being a standard-bearer is right on the money, because everyone knows that if they ARE going to prove anything...it has to be against Ohio State.

Looks to me as if there were some posters giving PSU some cred, and then a couple of jackasses came on to thread spouting off about how great PSU is, etc., and then they got theirs.

PSU, you had a good win last week. Other than that, you cannot use your other four games as a basis to say that you have reestablished yourself.

If Minnesota, Purdue (by way of getting beat by Minny), and Northwestern were considered the cream of the Big Ten, then maybe you guys would be able to spout of some crap about demanding respect.

tOSU, they have beat Iowa, which is no great feat either. But their one loss is to a team that I hear is one helluva team this year. And they had a winning season last year, capped off with an a blowout bowl victory. How did you guys fare in your bowl last....oh wait.

Anyway, you guys have looked impressive over the first few games, but you have to show a little bit more to demand this respect.

I have a question. I know Penn State has had trouble selling out games recently. Finding it hard to get 100,000 even. They had 106,000+ against Penn State...but I remember a few years back when Penn State had 110,000+. Was the Minnesota game not sold out, or the capacity go backwards? This one IS sold out, so what should the figures look like? Just curious.

If you say so...I guess you missed the fact I am a Buckeye if the rest of that was directed my way, but that's OK.
