Good to see he's working on reshaping his body. I know that his weight had become a bit of an issue his last year of HS and in his year at IMG. Shows he's very committed and serious about performing at a high level this season.

Lyle, a former Louisville recruit, was named in the Louisville escort's book, and was recently interviewed by the NCAA about the matter (OSU apparently doesn't believe it will impact his eligibility at all):

People might have expected that from Grandstaff, who was considered one of the best shooters in the country coming out of high school. But Thad Matta said at Tuesday's media day that he's been impressed with Lyle's shooting.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Sunday wasn't supposed to be JaQuan Lyle's college debut.

Who knows, maybe he hoped on being in the NBA by now. At the very least this was supposed to be the start of his second season in college, and he wasn't supposed to be playing for Ohio State.

It wasn't even a real game, the Buckeyes 92-82 exhibition win over Walsh, but it was real enough for Lyle to put to bed a long chapter of his life that kept him off the floor as a college basketball player.

"It felt great to finally get out there, play in front of the best fans in America," Lyle said. "It felt great and I'm happy to be a Buckeye."

He does seem to have a more skilled game than many others on the team, especially in terms of executing on the pick & roll. He definitely will be a key guy on the team this year and beyond.

JaQuan Lyle Named Co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week

The Big Ten announced on Monday afternoon that Ohio State’s JaQuan Lyle was co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week.

The Buckeye point guard began the week with a 29-point outing in OSU’s 85-60 loss at Indiana. OSU returned home on Wednesday night to take on Rutgers and Lyle recorded his first career triple-double with 16 points, a career-high 12 rebounds, and 11 assists in a 94-68 win for the Scarlet and Gray.

The triple-double was the fifth in Buckeye history and the second ever for a freshman after D’Angelo Russell recorded the first for a first-year player a season ago when he scored 23 points to go along with 11 boards and 11 assists in a 79-60 victory also over Rutgers.
