G/F Jaquan Lyle (transfer to New Mexico)

Georgetown, Texas make offers to Bosse's Lyle
By GORDON ENGELHARDT

Posted June 4, 2012

The recruitment of JaQuan Lyle continues to grow in scope across the country. Lyle, a 6-foot-4 guard who will be a junior this fall at Bosse High School, has been offered scholarships by Georgetown and Texas, hiking his overall total to 12 NCAA Division I men?s basketball scholarships.

Lyle is ranked 15th nationally in the Class of 2014 Prospect Ranking by Rivals.com. and No. 8 by ESPN?s Class of 2014 Top 60.

?When you travel in AAU and all over the place and he has been in California, Minnesota and Virginia as well as tournaments locally here in Indiana, he?s being seen by a lot of people, obviously,? said Bosse coach Shane Burkhart. ?A lot of people are wanting to offer scholarships and see what JaQuan?s interests are. You can?t ask for anything more than what JaQuan is going through right now as a high school basketball player.?

Lyle, 16, is playing ?up? a class for Spiece Indy Heat?s 17-and-under AAU team. He has also received offers from Indiana University, Purdue, Illinois, Xavier, Michigan State, Ohio State, Louisville, Kansas State, Providence and Southern Methodist.

?He should easily get to 20 offers by the end of the summer,? Burkhart said. ?It?s an exciting time for him and his family.?

Webb: Last one for you. Five-star point guard Jaquan Lyle (Evansville, Ind.) is a jack-of-all-trades guy. He too appears to be really high on Michigan State. Where are the Spartans in the race for his services?

Snow: Let's talk about his game. At 6-4, Jaquan is probably the best passer in the 2014 class. I watched him play one game at the Purdue team camp and literally it was like Magic Johnson was on a high school basketball court. When he is focused and puts it together, the things he can do passing the basketball are incredible. He just sees the court, he has unbelievable feel, and he's a good, not great athlete. He makes shots, he can handle it well, but the way he's capable of making other guys better is truly special. Now, with Jaquan, he has to get out of his own way. Sometimes he can be his own worst enemy. He's working on that. He's young for his grade, and he knows he has to be more mature. It's been a process for him, there's no doubt about that, but he's getting better, he's making improvements, and that's good to see so far.

Webb: And as far as his recruiting, where is Michigan State in the mix with him?

Snow: Michigan State is right there. His father lives in East Lansing ? he has family in East Lansing. He took a visit last year for a game ? the Indiana game ? and had a great time. So they're right there at the top with Louisville, Ohio State, Indiana, Kentucky. Jaquan might narrow it down soon, but he's not deciding soon. I see that recruitment stretching out quite a while.

Indiana, Louisville make 2014 5-star JaQuan Lyle?s final 6
Posted on March 9, 2013 by Steve Jones

Louisville and Indiana are among the final six college options for five-star Evansville, Ind.) Bosse guard JaQuan Lyle.

The others are Illinois, Florida, Tennessee and Ohio State, in no particular order. He eliminated Texas, North Carolina State, Georgetown and Cincinnati from his previous list of 10. About six weeks ago, he cut Kentucky, which had not made him an offer, from consideration, and replaced the Wildcats with Florida.

N.D. Kendrick of RecruitRecon.com first posted the list on Twitter, and Lyle confirmed it on his own Twitter page.

Lyle has made multiple unofficial visits to both U of L and IU this season.

Lyle?s junior season ended on Saturday with Bosse?s 82-65 loss to Greensburg in the Washington Regional semifinals. He had 25 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.

JaQuan Lyle Down to 7, Ready to Plan Officials
May 5th, 2013

Special to ZAGSBLOG

FORT WAYNE, IN. – As one of the most sought-after guard prospects in the 2014 class, naturally JaQuan Lyle has some tough recruiting decisions to make.

As his senior season approaches, he’s finally started on them.

The 6-foot-5 Lyle out of Evansville (IN) Bosse has finalized his list at seven schools — Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Louisville, Ohio State, Tennessee and UCLA. An adept scorer and smooth combo guard who went off for 44 points here for Spiece Indy Heat Saturday, Lyle will soon take the next step in his recruitment process.

“I take my SAT on June 8,” Lyle told SNY.tv. “After that I’m going to start planning my official visits. Everyone’s recruiting me pretty equally, everybody’s hard on me right now.”

Lyle wouldn’t play favorites, not giving much away about his eventual landing spot. He plans to use all five of his official visits to make sure he’s comfortable.

I really would like to see Lyle come to OSU. I think he is a very good prospect and he seems to have some similarities to ET in the sense that he has the reputation of playing a lot better on the ball than off, and extremely good size and strength for the PG position. Louisville is stacked at the PG position already, and Crean struggles to recruit the top in-state players to IU (lost more battles than he's won for sure when you look at the top-20 recruits).
