G/F Evan "The Villain" Turner (2010 Naismith Winner)

Turner reiterates: ?I?ll be back?

Meanwhile, Turner did not discount the possibility of checking out his prospects in the NBA draft. But he repeated what he has said for the past month, that he has unfinished business at Ohio State.

?I didn?t accomplish what I want to accomplish: a Big Ten championship, a deeper run into the NCAA Tournament, a national championship,? he said. ?I?ve been saying repeatedly that I don?t want to come to Ohio State and just leave. I want to come through and leave a legacy as a winner with my friends and my teammates and win a lot of championships. That?s what I?m all about.?

I guess I don't understand why he would attend "try out" camps if he has no intention of going to the NBA this year. I mean that does take time away from school and I thought that his education was important to him. I can understand him trying to get a feel for why go to the camps and miss class time.

Unlike with the NFL, there's no reason not to test the waters in the NBA. The amount of feedback you get from coaches and scouts on what to improve in your game(and Evan still has a lot to improve on even though he's already such a fantastic player) is unsurpassed IMO.

I understand that but maybe I am ignorant when it comes to how these guys can handle all of their classwork when they are traveling. You would think that they would welcome the rest and be able to study on campus.

It's not like he'll be on the road 24/7. He might go to Chicago for workouts(which is where a lot of players go) on a weekend and get feedback.

This isn't like training for the NFL combine. He won't have to drop out of school or ignore his classes to do this. It will take less of his time than practices and games did during basketball season.

Tourney Watch: Who's hot, who's not in NCAA tourney - ESPN

Evan Turner, SG, So., Ohio State
Turner's team may have been ousted in the first round, but it wasn't his fault. He had a spectacular game for the Buckeyes, scoring 28 points, grabbing 9 boards and dishing out 8 assists. The performance confirmed the opinion of a number of trusted scouts who feel Turner is the most underrated player in the draft.
"He's so solid in so many areas of the game," one veteran scout said. "He needs to improve his perimeter shot, but the rest of the package is there."
Turner is currently projected to go somewhere between the late lottery and the middle of the first round. However, after the Buckeyes lost, he said he's returning to Ohio State for his junior season. But we'll see if that holds true. In the past, players often say similar things when their team is ousted from the tournament, only to reverse course after exploring their draft options more fully.

Thats what my money is on. Look at the table in the link to see how much money he'd be passing on. If he went 15th he's guaranteed 4.5 Million over the next 3 years if I'm reading it right.

Four and a half million (or better) will flat get your attention.

He's gone...no inside info, no new news and I know what he said, I'll simply be shocked if he's back next season.
I would also like a little action on that along with brodybuck21. He could improve his draft stock immensely by stating one more year. He really needs to work on his outside shot and ballhandling. In addition, he and Lighty are very good friends for whatever that is worth.

plus everyone has to remember while some unnamed scout says he is a mid 1st as of March 24th, this is before all declarations by players still in the tourney and whatever foreign players declare. I love Turners game but he is still a little ways away with his jumper, dribbling and quickness to be successful at the elite level. I do believe he can get there but IMO he needs 1 maybe 2 years more at the college level.
