Game Thread For the Natty vs ND, “One More, Then Forever”, Jan. 20th, 34-23 Buckeyes!

I would be surprised if ND plays man against OSU. There are signs v
I assume you’re being sarcastic lol.

Everyone says “oh copy Michigan” well you need two stud 1st round DTs and 2 good DEs. If you have those that’s a start. Then you invite the run and hope Ryan Day and Chip Kelly go back to running stretch and inside zone. Then you need to concuss our QB, double JJ, and have us miss 2 chip shot field goals.

Sure give that a try when your defense is entirely the exact opposite. Michigan and Texas slowed us down partly because they play a ton of zone which ND doesn’t do.

This one was interesting to me. Says there’s a noticeable size and mental difference between the two teams. Compares the teams to the Oregon 2014-2015 team where you’re surprised they’re both in the title game. Also said interesting there’s a lot of ND players limping around and walking gingerly.

I’ve pointed this out by looking at their defense. They’re a very undersized group and we’d be wise to keep pounding on them.

How about Ohio State just does what Ohio State does? It doesn't have to be ground and pound. That's not really their style.

while I'm sure NoD has some zone packages in their schemes, they aren't that type of defense.

Changing too much this far into a season can cause significant issues - especially when you're down a couple players like they are.

Especially going from man to zone. Going from zone to man is a much easier adjustment, it just requires talent. Man to zone, from a time to get it installed correctly perspective, is much more difficult because guys have to coordinate among themselves and gel as a unit.

Unless they have been putting in the reps in practice all season, there’s no way to effectively switch to a predominantly zone defense in this amount of time.
