Football, Futbol, Soccer, etc. (Official Thread)

FOX needs so more much professionalism across the board when presenting sports, especially the events they are set to broadcast in the near future.

I just want the football coverage to be professional as well, which shouldn't be too much to ask. Using NBC (EPL) or ESPiN's international tournament coverage as an example, it really shouldn't be too much to ask.

No celebrity for the sake of celebrity (like Michael Strahan, Piers Morgan or the like) and perhaps no attempts at trolling for reaction (Wynalda trolls and has some sort of vendetta against Jurgen Klinsmann).

I also have zero faith in FOX in its world tournament coverage. The treatment of the Women's World Cup next summer will probably be some sort of insult to women.

I just hope NBC retains the EPL rights, because they're doing a good job.

Reported by Awful Announcing, FOX/FS1 adding Alexi Lalas to its commentary/analyst team starting in 2015 doesn't really make me want to watch its analysis any more. Out of all the commentators ESPiN used for its World Cup broadcast, I think I paid attention to Lalas the least (or fast-forwarded).

The FOX team right now will be: Barton, Lalas, McBride and Wynalda.

I don't know about that analyst team for a Women's World Cup.

Man. Fox just simply doesn't get it when it comes to this sport. NBCSN is killing it with their BPL coverage & the drop off is so significant I can't do anything but shake my head with Fox. No good.

I wouldn't normally post about a Europa League game, but the one Spurs played in was crazy.

Erik Lamela scored a 20-yard rabona. Unreal skill.

Also, late in the game and up 5-0 Hugo Lloris got sent off. Spurs had used all of their subs, so they put Harry Kane goal, who by that point in the game had already scored a hat trick playing as the no. 10:

I've been to the La Boca area in Buenos Aries and those Boca Jr soccer fans are crazy. Boca Jr vs River Plate is about like Ohio State vs Michigan there....

Boca Juniors kicked out of Copa Libertadores tournament after visiting River Plate players are targeted with pepper spray and taken to hospital suffering from burns

    • Boca Juniors and River Plate played in the Copa Libertadores on Thursday
    • After a goalless first half, River players had problems with their vision
    • They were targeted with pepper spray and were rubbing their eyes
    • After a delay of an hour, the controversial match was finally abandoned
    • Four of River's players were taken to hospital after suffering from 'burns'
    • South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) announced River will advance and Boca fans will be banned from the next eight matches

La Boca is located in the south-east of the city. This is a colorful neighborhood full of European flavor, with brightly painted houses illustrating every color of the rainbow. La Boca is the home of many Italian immigrants and their hastily erected tin houses which have now formed both a residential area and a tourist attraction. This neighborhood is also known throughout the sporting world as the birthing place of one of South America’s best football clubs, the Boca Juniors. The use of color and the general artistic tradition of this neighborhood were heavily influenced by one of Argentina’s most famous artists, Benito Quinquela Martin. It was he who used his art as a form of political and social protest. Other attractions in La Boca include the Museo de Cera wax museum and exhibitions organized by the Proa Foundation.
