Billmac - scoop us dude. What up in Tallahassee?

just a grad from there...im in columbus

DBB could prob give more than I can....I'm waiting for a list, but the boards don't want to speculate so it will prob be another day or two

Lot's of paranoia about Jimbo taking the WVU job and some recruits with him. E.J. Manuel could be a nice fit, especially on a team that would basically have Jimbo's system already in place better than FSU does after a whole year.

As far as the cheating goes, it sounds like they initially tried to sweep it under the rug, and suspend 2 players, but a woman track athlete didn't think it was fair and threatened lawsuit for suspending so many student-athletes of other sports but turning a blind eye to the football program.

The NCAA wouldn't have liked that much, so FSU got serious, is about to suspend 20-24 football players and if you want to appeal, be ready to face expulsion.

Apparently not even the FSU coaches know all of the names at this point (Jimbo Fisher quote on ESPN) . That makes the bowl preparation interesting.

I think he may be playing a little coy. The players in question have all been interviewed by school administrators at this point. They can now accept the suspension if they admitted cheating, or they are open to expulsion. I'd have to believe the entire coaching staff knows who they have available.

Early rumors have a lot of defensive starters being named.

As I mentioned in [strike]post #96[/strike] now post #110 (after merge), all 3 starting linebackers are on the table.

I haven't heard anything concrete since then, but it sounds like they are leaking the info out slowly to "slow the story down".

This is the kind of thing that anyone is vulnerable to if the compliance department isn't sufficiently aggressive. With that having been said, I find it suspicious that the earliest version of this (from several months ago), had a few athletes and a few academic advisors involved. Now, there are many athletes, but only one academic advisor. It looks like it is all being pinned on one guy.

It is entirely possible that one guy could have distributed the answers to on-line tests to a large group of athletes, but the earliest versions of the story included a more active role for the advisor(s). While it is possible that the more recent versions of the story are more accurate, it certainly raises an eyebrow.

If this is just a case of one lone-cowboy AA, then the appearance that FSU is giving by slow-leaking the story is probably more harmful than the benefit of "slowing it down".

One guy is a bad apple. Multiple people is an institutional control problem.

I just merged the 'Florida State Cheating' thread from late September into this one, for the ability to track the story chronologically.

That old thread is now posts 91-104 (page 7 for most of us) in this thread.
